Adjustments To Ping System Are Needed

So far I have been having a blast with the beta. The devs have done a good job making the game feel like a true Battlefield game while also building upon the classic feel with more modern systems. Although I feel like there is one thing missing which is the ability to go on long flanks with the reward of diminishing the enemies frontline. This type of gameplay is what helped shape Battlefield, and with the current ping system this type of gameplay is very limited.

The automatic ping system could possibly diminish the game, since all a player has to do is hover their crosshairs in any direction not matter the distance and you will find an easy kill when most the time that player probably would have never seen them in the first place. Thus making flanking useless. Not to mention that this also makes the recon class pointless if their main trait which is spotting.
A few fixes the devs could look at to adress this issue is:

  1. Use a similar spotting system that was implemented in BF3 where every player must manually spot a player(besides the recon), but this time make it to where there is a delay in between each time the spot button is pressed in order to reduce spot spam. This was also an issue in BF3 where players would just constantly press the spot button in a general area hoping for a Dorito to pop up over an enemy’s player head.

    or
  2. I will suggest getting rid of automatic spotting in the hip, and instead only allow automatic spotting within a short distance while the player is aiming in while allowing recon to automatically spot limitlessly. Past a given distance players must then manually spot enemies. Though still unsure how this option would play out.

Hopefully these suggestions help give the recon class a more significant role on the battlefield, and open up more ways to help advance your team by using the flanking routes the map creators intended. Would love to see the dev team make changes to this part of the game because I would quickly get bored of always shooting at orange dots instead of the actual enemy. Look forward to hearing if anyone is feeling the same and if anyone else might have any other suggestions as well.
