Alternate Mode Crouching while Knifing

I have tried hours to fix this (PS5). I like to play with the stick and circle switched for crouch and knife. But the base controller layout “alternate” that does this for you seems to remember that crouch used to be on circle. So the stick for coughing is great but if I knife I crouch at the same time. If there is something I’m doing wrong let me know, but it feels like this is a backend issue!
