Battlefield vet - Beta feedback

Add proper server browser, just like it was in BF1 and BF4.

I personally don't need it, but i get why people want it. The information we have gotten is that there is some kind of it in the game once it releases, but it sounds all shady and doesn't really clarify or provide trust to the customers and veterans of the franchise especially.  Let people choose and decide and tinker around.

Class-locked weapons.

This is such a Battlefield thing to have, that it should be part of this game for sure. Not everything has to be tailored to the masses and there can be niche things that Battlefield does that people will have to get used to. Having both available is nice and cool compromise, but choosing one would be beneficial for both. For me this is one of the most mandatory things in the franchise. I always played different classes, leveled up their weapons, gadgets, learnt their playstyle, their advantages, weaknesses, practiced with their weapons to improve.

To provide all weapons is gonna lead to Call of Duty issues, where CCs will make videos about "THIS ULTIMATE GUN IS THE ONE YOU GOTTA USE RIGHT NOW, BEFORE IT GETS NERFED" and everybody will be running around with the same weapon. Both alternatives have advantages and disadvantages and that's why you have to make that call. I wouldn't open the weapons, because it wasn't really popular in 2042 either. Not to mention that previous Battlefields didn't really fail and this wasn't really ever on the table neither. Like i don't remember people or community complaining about class-locked weapons and i have experienced all the main titles in their prime.

Engineer double rocket launchers need to go.

I heard that this is fixed, but still, how can this even happen in the first place blows my mind a little bit.

Melee animations need overhaul.

What we have right now is not at the level of Battlefield games 10-15 years back and that speaks volume itself. It needs improvements, all kind of different weapons should have unique animations.

Maps need to be bigger.

The maps we have available right now are pretty decent, but again. We should be experiencing typical Battlefield experience with all the vehicles and things available in classic BF experience. Instead we get 3 pretty smallish maps and one medium with a lot of chokepoints and narrow spaces. Which isn't really good at all. I get the reasoning, but one map should have been Firestorm or one of the big ones. Hopefully this will get improved upon in post-launch content. We need way more bigger maps than this. It's okay to have these ones as well, but Battlefield's main thing are bigger maps.

It feels like Assault role is unspecified?

Like this might be just me, but to me Assault role feels lost. Once he gets the spawn beacon, it becomes much better, but i still feel like the game should have gone the typical Medic - Engineer - Support - Recon combo.

I am not sure how to feel about Support being medic and LMG guy at the same time.

I definitely don't know what to think about Assault, as it feels like he isn't master of anything? Basically just for fragging? It also feels like the new players play him the most.

If he becomes the spawn provider and gets the hammer and ladders and more utilities to provide movement and advancement for the squad then it's alright i guess? I don't know. Feels really odd. To me personally.

PS: The stim feels overpowered and too weird, i'd prefer if he had a different signature ability instead. It feels very Call of Duty like for my taste. We don't need super experimental stims that provide enhanced hearing and sight and speed and healing and what not.

Some balances and fixes.

Increase recoil across the board for all weapons by 20-30% at least.

Remove the slowing effect on Thermobaric Launcher(give it suppression effect if it doesnt have it already).

Buff suppression by making the target less precise or having more weapon sway/increased recoil. Something of that sort.

Nerf shotgun dmg by 50% or increase the pellet spread by 50%. Or 25% dmg decrease and 25% spread increase.

Decrease the sniper glint by a little bit.

Spotting "dorito" should be nerfed a little bit.

Vehicles need buff.

Jets are too stiff and Air to ground missiles feel weak. There should be fighter jets and bomber like jets that are both specialized in their role. One jet shouldn't be able to do all.

Helis are too stiff and it's hard to judge it's balance because everyone has the stinger. Movement wise it feels terrible though.

Tanks actually feel quite decent, IFV too glass cannon like. Something definitely needs to be done about the engineers hiding behind main turrets being almost invulnerable.

Transport buggies feel actually very good to drive, the best ever in Battlefield tbh.

Rush 12v12 feels pretty decent, but 24v24 should be available as well.

I like both, 12v12 feels more competitive, 24v24 would feel like a good old rush.

Destruction should be decreased a little bit on some weapons.

Weapons like grenade launchers shouldn't be able to collapse a whole side of a building.

Any way to keep visuals and aesthetics of the soldiers cohessive?

Right not it feels like one army and unit, which feels great, but i am worried about post-launch that it will feel disjointed? Idk, just one of those things that worry me.

Unlocking of weapons and gadgets should be tied to each class and category.

Not only that this will prolong game time for people to have more stuff to acquire, but it will be more rewarding as well. Do you want to play with the M60? Well play support and play with LMGs. Do you want the 50. cal sniper rifle? Well play recon and play sniper rifles.. And so on.. This makes much more sense. I hope that unlocking weapons via rank is just because of the beta weekends.

Medals, assignments and ribbons.

Please bring them  back. They are awesome, they give more motivation to play, they feel very much Battlefield like.

Proper ranks and promotions.

We should get proper ranks, similar to those in BF3 and BF4 especially. The ranks and promotions right now feel very plain and don't have the oomph. Battlefield 4 promotion always had that dopamine hit, that provided satisfaction. Especially while you watched some rewards arriving with the rank-up as well.

UI feels very COD MW 2019 like.

It feels cluttered, unlikable and very similar to that from Call of Duty, even some sounds are similar. Should be more toned into the BF4/BF1 kind.

This probably summs it up so far. I can't think of anything else, i definitely missed something, which i can add later i guess.

If anyone reads this, then thanks for taking the time. I hope this game succeeds. I am pretty hyped because devs are apparently listening to many things we are saying, but they need to step it up a bit more still.

Just because the core of the game is good, it doesn't equal success automatically and this game needs more work to be done to feel like a proper successor to all the best Battlefields we had.

I didn't mention many of the good things, because we should be focused on the bad stuff as of now.
