Feedback on Battlefield 6 Beta – From a Long-Time FPS Player
I’ve been a hardcore FPS gamer for decades—longer than some reading this have been alive. I’ve seen the transition from the first 8-bit consoles to today’s cutting-edge titles. For me, Call of Duty and Battlefield have always been the two big ones. COD leans toward arcade-style gameplay, while BF has traditionally aimed for more realism, which I personally prefer.
That said, both have always lacked certain qualities the other has. It’s like smartphones—you’ll get a new model that’s almost perfect but missing one crucial feature they had to know people wanted.
I, like many others, want to move away from COD because the franchise feels disconnected from its community. I’d love Battlefield to become my main game, but it needs a few changes before I can make that switch. Battlefield 6, so far, has been the best in the series in my opinion—but it still needs a touch of what COD does well to truly be perfect.
MOVEMENT
Movement isn’t bad, but it feels sluggish compared to COD’s current omni-movement system. I get that Battlefield isn’t trying to copy COD, but even a slight increase in responsiveness would help. Right now, it feels like running through tar—slow and heavy.
Being able to dive backwards or sideways, as COD introduced in BO6, added depth to gameplay. Maybe the solution is to separate movement sensitivity from aiming sensitivity, allowing faster traversal without affecting shot control.

MATCHMAKING
During the beta, I repeatedly ended up on defense when trying to complete capture-based challenges (like the Week 2 “Capture 15 Areas” achievement). No matter how many times I rejoined, I kept getting defense, making it nearly impossible to progress.
Team/party stability in crossplay also needs work. Often, if you try to stay with your squad between matches, the game either fails to load you in together or leaves some players stuck on the results screen. The only fix is for everyone to back out and restart matchmaking, which gets old fast.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I’m loving much of what BF6 offers so far, and I understand this is just a beta—things will change. But if core issues with aiming and movement remain, I might have to cancel my Phantom Pre-Order. At £90, I expect those fundamentals to feel right.
One last request to the devs: please bring back a training ground like in earlier Battlefield titles, where we could practice flying helicopters and planes. Learning in a live match is frustrating when you might only get one chance per round to hop in a vehicle. So far for me, it's a 6.5/10 when I know this has the potential to be a 10👌🏻
