BF6 Beta Feedback (PS5)

With thousands of hours in both BF3 and BF4, I've been waiting for years for a return to a modern Battlefield. (BF1 was great too btw). I was lucky enough to play the BF Labs in the early parts of 2025 and while the game had some rough edges (always expected in a Pre Alpha build), it had impressive promise.

Skip forward to the Beta and, as expected, for the most part everything has been improved. It's one of the best Beta builds I've ever played in the FPS space. As a long-term Battlefield player, below are the things I liked, and the things I think need some improvement:

Likes

Gunplay - It feels great. Sure there needs to be a pass on recoil but I'm pretty sure the devs are aware of this and it will be improved before launch.

Movement - Finally no tac sprint. It slows the gameplay down nicely and brings us back towards what I believe a 'casual FPS' should be.

Atmosphere/SFX - Utterly sensational. Whoever is responsible for the sound design on BF6 should be extremely proud of what they've built here. It's so good.

Destruction - Holy ****! Do I need to say anymore?

UI - 2042 had this very odd lime green slapped over everything. Although some tweaks are needed to the UI, it's a vast improvement.

Team Play - Although not perfect (it is only a Beta after all), I do feel like team play is slowly making a return. I was revived more times than I wasn't, my vehicles were repaired and generally squads would work together.

Pull Revive - What an awesome addition to an FPS. It just adds to the realism to the game stepping round a corner, seeing buildings collapse, explosions and incoming rounds while other players are dragging their teammates back to safety.

Improvements

TTK & TTD are way too fast.

Vehicles - This is a big one. Battlefield made it's own space in the FPS market arguably because of it's vehicular gameplay on large scale battles. In BF6 they kind of feel like they've just been added on. They don't feel like they're an integral part of the game. Tanks seem to need constant life support from fellow engineers and helicopters... well... they're pretty useless. Jets are in a good place I think. Although I would like to see a big improvement on the cockpit UI. I really struggle to see where my main gun is aiming. Maybe that's a setting I've got wrong somewhere.

Helicopters - With thousands of hours in the AH-1Z Viper, helicopter gameplay has always been a key interest to me and to many others. Now I know we're not going to get back what we had in BF3 & 4 when it came to the attack helicopters (RIP AKA-ART), but in BF6 they were impossible to fly competitively and were shot out of the sky by literally everything. Please get rid of AA's if you're giving 32 players the ability to equip an anti-aircraft launcher that can seemingly lock on from any range. You don't need an AA as well. If you're getting bombarded by an enemy chopper, spawn back in with a Stinger or get in your own helicopter or jet and go head-to-head in an aerial battle. It's too easy to take down air vehicles.

Helicopter Vision - Another major issue with the helicopters is the pilot's vision. Why are we forced to look through a tiny letterbox? A pilot's number one asset is visibility, and that's been taken away before you even set off. Look at gameplay from BF3 & 4, all chopper's had great visibility. There's also this really weird circular glare on the whole screen? What's that?

Ground Vehicles - Although they feel much better than air vehicles, they need a bit of fine tuning. Tanks feel very sluggish and when you're met with 32 engineers, who of course have RPGs, you cannot get away.

Map Size - For maps that have lots of vehicles, they need to be bigger. Liberation Peak is a great map but there isn't enough room for vehicular gameplay to really thrive. In one match, using the NATO chopper, I couldn't even leave the HQ for most of the round because the AA was able to lock from any range. If you think back to maps like Golmud Railway, it's this vast open sandbox with the perfect space for vehicles to operate efficiently in and, to me anyway, that's what Battlefield is - an FPS sandbox.

SMGs - They need to be looked at over long ranges. I'm getting beamed from down a street in Cairo, which just feels wrong.

Server Browser - Come on DICE.

TL;DR - The core of the game is great and it's got the potential to be the best Battlefield since BF4. But please look at the vehicles, they are arguably what sets Battlefield apart from other FPS games. They need to be more important.

Hit me with your thoughts.
