Constructive Feedback for BF6 Beta — Please don’t CODify Battlefield
The maps remind me more of COD titles than BF. Especially Empire State.
Most people have already mentioned this point so I won’t spend too much time on it. In short, the maps feel small compared to previous titles. They look great, don’t get me wrong, but when I compare Empire State to Operation Locker or Metro, I don’t get the same feeling. I get shot in the back ALL THE TIME on Empire State. Operation Locker had a handful of flank points that both teams knew about and worked together to exploit. Empire State just feels like COD—cracked out tiktokers blitzed on adderall who thrive on 6 second spans of gameplay. I can’t even spawn without getting shot in the back. Cairo isn’t much better. At least it has vehicles, but they can only really access the outskirts of the map. This was a problem in breakthrough where Bravo objective is essentially infantry only. And the objectives aren’t identifiable—older titles made it easy to figure out what objective you were on because you could see a massive satellite dish or tall radio tower.
Again, props to the team that made the maps. They really do look great. Just don’t cater to the COD base, or streamers for that matter. Streamers don’t care about your game, they care about their bank accounts.
The beta feels too fast paced. Older titles felt more tactical and methodical.
I really don’t want to see BF turn into COD brain rot. The Empire State map didn’t even feel like a BF game to me because it’s just spawn, die, spawn, die, rinse and repeat. I would say that, in general, it’s not WAY too fast paced, just a little too fast paced. Everything could be slowed down just a hair. I remember BF4 maps being made for conquest, and then each objective was essentially designed as its own map to be used for Domination. Anyone that played BF4 remembers playing Conquest on Zavod, and if you played Domination, you’ll recall that it was basically just on the C objective marker. We don’t need entire maps designed for Domination style gameplay. just do what they did for BF3 and 4. Making maps like Empire State fosters fast paced gameplay, which makes your game feel more like COD than BF.
Class Locked Weapons
It was fairly annoying to see a recon class maining a sub machine gun, placing a spawn beacon behind enemy lines in the spawn area, and griefing people over and over again. Class locked weapons need to remain a staple of BF titles. I’m so glad classes are back, but let’s do it right.
Overall, I loved the beta and am excited for the full release. The team is clearly very talented, and I can’t wait to see what they’ve created.
I really hope the developers take the feedback seriously and make the BF community happy. We’re so close to BF finally being back. I hope they know if they do right by the community, the community will do right by them.
