Feedback - Criticisms

1000+ hours on BC2 & BF3. Game is a solid return to form, massively fun and loads of potential. My current complaints / areas that really need improvement in order of importance:

CLOSED WEAPONS: I’m aware BF6 will have options for both closed & open, but I think majority of BF community wants closed weapons system to be the DEFAULT not the exception. Let’s please listen to that. 

ENGINEER TOO OP: Both a stinger & an RPG in slot with 5 shots each is just mental. Removes realism (that’s over 200lbs of equipment FYI), but also is just not balanced when one engi can take out all vehicles on the map. These should be separate roles. Also, reduce shot count and/or increase reload time or lock-on time, as the dmg on the stinger is essentially insta-kill.

HELICOPTER NOT VIABLE: Way too squishy. Flying is much clunkier, too, but oddly enough I kind of like it? You can really feel the weight of the heli now, and it feels more realistic, but definitely is more challenging than previous titles. I don’t mind personally, but the armor needs improvement. Far too many ways to take it down, especially when every engi has a stinger and can rapid fire on you up to 5 times per life. Clear disadvantage, and this is coming from a heli vet. I played enough BF to be able to fly an Apache all game and only go down 1-3 times max. If you’re good at the game, this is fine, because it takes time to get to that level. In BF6 I couldn’t stay up for more than 2 minutes, and that’s if I was lucky and playing super safe. And that’s from AN EXPERIENCED BF PILOT, lord have mercy on someone new.

SCOPE GLINT TOO INTENSE: We’ve seen the memes. It truly is ridiculous. Needs to be toned down a lot and not just glinting like crazy the entire time. The whole point of playing recon well is that the enemies don’t know where you are, but right now playing as a sniper the entire enemy team knows exactly where you are right away as you’re shining a light right on them. It’s stupid. 

SUPPORT NEEDS DEDICATED ROLES: I’m sure this will be expanded on in full release, but support feels like a medic with extra ammo, and not really a true support class. Why is the medic carrying ammo? Furthermore why does a medic default with an LMG, which is clearly a gunner role? I also don’t really like that supplies restore health / ammo / equipment. Maybe just health & ammo, but equipment restocks need a separate gadget that is specifically a resupply box, and each should have limited uses. It seems like BF is afraid to break away from their classic 4-class system, but frankly, they should, or at least diversify the current classes into subclasses.

TANKS NEED SPLASH DMG / HE: The all-purpose shell on the tank has practically no splash damage at all. The only way you get kills with the cannon is if it’s a direct hit or if they’re already almost dead. I would literally shoot right at the feet of like 3 infantry running together and it barely scratched them. That’s wild. I’m sure we’ll see HE shells as an unlockable, but the all-purpose round needs slightly more realistic explosive damage. Otherwise I’m happy with tanks; I do wish glancing shots were a thing, like in War Thunder / HLL etc., where hitting certain zones wouldn’t penetrate or cause damage; this would be a departure from traditional BF mechanics, but I think it would be warmly welcomed. RPG’s already do significant damage from the rear, and I think this is how it should be. You want to take down a tank you need to be strategic, not just rapid fire RPG rockets from a safe spot and land it anywhere.

GIVE US HUMVEES!!!! - The jeeps are cool, but squishy AF. Give us humvees that have basic armor so at least the infantry can get to point without worrying about rifle fire. LOVE that the .50 cal actually hits like a .50 cal. Let’s keep that please.

There are other things, but given that it was only a beta I’ll give it time to brew and see what we’ll have on the full release. Can’t wait to redeploy.
