Feedback on the beta
Overall the beta seems to be much better than 2042 but that is not saying much as 2042 was horrible. The gun customization is nice, the destruction is good (however, needs to be toned down a bit). All the issues I have with the beta are minor issues that need to be addressed or this game will fail.
- The maps are too small and have no natural flow like past battlefields. There is no front line and you have enemies around every corner. There is no time to breath with the current maps and makes the game feel like COD. This isn't COD and shouldn't try to be COD. If every new map is like the ones in the beta then people will only play on the legacy maps.
- Gun balance is all over the place. Snipers shouldn't have a sweet spot and the sniper glint is way too much. LMGs are essentially useless since suppression doesn't hinder your aim or you view at all and the guns deal the same damage as ARs with slower handling and more recoil. What is the point in using them when they are worst than an AR in every aspect. DMRS are just terrible, they need a complete rework. The shotgun is way to strong.
- TTK is not consistent. You can die in what seems like seconds but you can shoot an enemy 8 times and they walk it off like nothing
- The pistol is useless. Might as well just remove it since trying to use it as a backup weapon will certainly get you killed.
- Explosives (vehicles or infantry) do not deal enough splash damage to kill someone unless it is a direct impact. A tank shouldn't be failing to kill infantry when they shoot their main cannon 1 ft away from the enemy (even if it is AP rounds).
- Stingers are too strong. Either buff the countermeasures on air vehicles or increase lock on time for the stinger greatly.
- Jet needs to repair overtime or increase the base range to get the repair in. Having to fly pretty much a few feet off the ground to get the repair is crazy.
- Rush needs to be completely reworked. Maps are way too small, OBJs are right next to each other and defenders HQ is too close to OBJs. Making it near impossible to get any ground when attacking
- Remove open weapons. This is battlefield not COD there should be locked weapons based on class no question. Having an assault run around with a sniper, or a support running an AR defeats the purpose of having classes. Might as well just go full 2042 and let any class use any equipment. Also, splits the player base which is not good for the long run of the game.
- The UI is terrible. Stop with this Streaming services UI design and go back to traditional vertical design where you can actually find what you are looking for. I'm trying to find a match not picking a show to watch.
- All of the vehicles feel like you are driving a brick. Bring back the vehicle physics of BF3 and everyone will be happy.
- Support class should not have ammo and health. There really isn't a need for an engineer class and the Engineer should be the traditional support (give rockets to assault). The classes should be Assault, Medic, Support, and Recon. You perfected the class balance with BF1 why shy away from it.
- Needs persistent servers and a browser. Playing Breakthrough defending then going into the next match you should switch to attacking on the same map like in previous games. Just trying to get the beta challenge for capturing sectors is impossible when you are defending every single game. Server browser is needed so you are not playing on the same map over and over.
- SBMM needs to go. Nobody likes SBMM and it is completely unneeded for BF.
- remove the blue filter. Make the game more colorful! We want it to look like BF1.
- Liberation Peak Conquest. Where the points are now make the match way too one sided. Most matches end in NATO victory because they have 3 points on their side of the map. Game ends up being a fight just to hold C flag for Pax.
Overall I think the Beta is good, not anywhere near BF3, 4, or 1 good though. The game is taking too much from 2042 and should be going back to the roots not trying to cater to the COD players.
