For the Devs: Issues I have noticed
I ran into a few issues while playing, but first I just have to say—this game is awesome! I’ve been having a blast with it. Hopefully this feedback can help you fix some things, whether they’re already on your radar or brand new.
Bugs & Technical Issues:
- SVK-8.6 DMR Attachment Unlocks: While leveling up the SVK-8.6 DMR, I noticed that attachments weren’t unlocking even though I was ranking up the weapon. Quitting to menu didn’t fix it—I had to fully relaunch the game for the attachments to appear and be usable.
- Black Wall Glitch: Occasionally, I’d see a large black “wall” graphic glitch. It usually happened right after dying and would stay after being revived, but redeploying would clear it.
- In-Match Attachment Unlocks: After unlocking a new attachment mid-match, I couldn’t equip it until the next game. The UI would show it as unlocked, but when I tried to switch, it would play the swap sound effect, then immediately revert to my previous attachment.
- Pre-Match Character Launch: Sometimes at the start of a match, my character would launch up into the air and then drop down right before the game begins. It’s pretty funny, but I doubt it’s intentional.
- Unable to Quit to Menu: In some matches, the “quit to menu” option wouldn’t work, leaving me stuck. The only way out was to fully close the game. It’s not a huge deal, but when playing in a party it can kill the momentum.
Suggestions & Balance Feedback:
- C4 Damage Radius vs Infantry: C4 feels great against vehicles and buildings, but its infantry damage radius seems extremely small compared to grenades. I understand avoiding spam, but matching grenade-level blast radius for infantry might make it more consistent.
- Sniper Glint: The sniper glint feels overly strong—at times it’s like 20 mini-suns on a hillside. I’d still keep glint so you can spot snipers, but tone it down so it’s less visually overwhelming.
- Sniper Motion Sensor Range Indicator: If the small graphic on the mini-map is the sensor’s true range, it feels too short. If it’s larger than that, it needs to be displayed more clearly so players know the real coverage.
- Assault Top-Tier Squad Perk: Medic, Engineer, and Sniper perks benefit nearby teammates, but the Assault’s seems to only help themselves. It would be great if it also offered some squad benefit.
- Carbine Use Case: Right now carbines feel outclassed—ARs deal more damage, and SMGs are better for close quarters. I’d love to see a balance tweak or a class-based weapon restriction mode where carbines fill a niche for both Assault and Engineer playstyles.
I hope this gives the devs a bit of insight into some known issues, as well as a few suggestions that might help make the game even better. Overall, though, I think you guys really hit the nail on the head with this one. I’ve been playing Battlefield since the 1942 days, and to be honest, I was pretty bummed out by 2042—I didn’t stick with it for long.
This game, though, feels like a return to Battlefield’s roots. It brings back the same excitement and fun I remember from Bad Company, BF3, and BF4. Huge props to everyone involved—seriously, great job! I know it’s still in development, but it’s already off to a fantastic start. Keep up the great work!
