Helicopters Feel Out of Place in BF6’s ‘Back to Roots’ Beta
Hey everyone,
I wanted to start an open discussion in hopes we can get enough traction for the devs to notice.
One thing BF6 seems to be nailing in the beta is bringing Battlefield back to its roots. Soldier gameplay finally feels gritty, grounded, and reminiscent of the classic titles many of us grew up with (15 years ago in my case!). It’s clear the community loves this return to form, just look at how positively the beta’s been received.
That’s why I’m scratching my head about one big thing: helicopters.
While infantry combat has gone back to the authentic Battlefield feel, the helicopters still feel straight out of 2042 , with the same flight physics, handling quirks, and arcade-like movement that just don’t match the rest of the game’s tone. It’s jarring to go from boots-on-the-ground, classic-BF gameplay… to flying something that feels like it belongs in a different game entirely.
If the goal is to restore Battlefield’s identity, I think it’s worth giving helicopters the same “back-to-the-core” treatment. Tighter, weightier handling, a more skill-based flight model, and that sense of immersion we remember from the older games would go a long way.
Let’s make BF6 the best it can be,
