Initial Thoughts on Gameplay

Below are my initial thoughts from playing a few hours, and only reflect my opinions. Right or wrong, these are only my opinion as primarily being a  BF:BC2 player. BF3 was OK, BF4 and 5 was unplayable for me to set the tone.

Bullet Damage (Assault weapons) is WAY too low, especially at close / medium range. Bullet damage, once again, is also inconsistent in game. When on target, a full standard clip should be able to kill more than 2 players. I can't express how many times chest hits were registering but the player had time to jump spin, bunny hop and kill me with a shotgun or SMG. Simply put, playing Assault feels like I am shooting rubber bullets at close to medium range.

UI needs a complete overhaul, however I know DICE is working on this. Currently it is not very clear and could have more pop. Furthermore when unlocking attachments and what not, the presentation is stale. Refer back to BC2 for the best the franchise has ever had when revealing new weapon attachments getting unlocked. Both clear and rewarding.

I like the changes to Recon, however we are still often seeing 50%+ playing the class, camping in corners of the map (Even when on the attacking side) and not helping. Why do rifles that weigh ~75 lbs have no weight to them in game? They are way too easy to ADS and fire. High Risk / High Reward in that these rifles are very powerful with a 1 shot kill, and their feeling should not be that of an instagib rifle from unreal tournament... they should feel the weight and have to set up shots. The feel right now is way too much like an arcade for snipers. Scope Glint is overly aggressive as well. Maybe glint after 0.5 seconds of ADS but not instantly?

I have yet to play other classes as I am primarily an assault player. It is nice to see reactive destruction make a return and coded destruction kicked to the curb. This game is on the right track. With a little better map design (Quit making so many linear maps FFS) and a few tweaks... assuming the game can be made stable, I think we have the first real winner in over a decade.

My last "wish", but certainly not game breaking would be to allow us to modify loadouts post game without going back to the portal or entering a new game. And of course, everyone's wish... EA should have support. I know, a pipe dream along with a site built in 2025 rather than 1998.
