Matchmaking Issues in Low Player Base Regions: Unplayable Modes

Hello Battlefield Team and players

Thank you for letting us try the Battlefield 6 Open Beta. I want to share feedback from my experience in the Middle East servers.

During the beta I could not play certain modes because of low player numbers in my region. For example, I was unable to join Closed Weapons Conquest in Battlefield 6. The current matchmaking system feels very similar to what we saw in Battlefield 2042, where I often couldn’t access Conquest 128 for the same reason. What I witnessed was that lobbies would sometimes have a handful of players but never enough to reach the required number to start the match. We would end up waiting for a long time, only for people to get fed up and leave, which made it impossible to play. I was only able to work around this problem by partying with someone in another region, but that is not always convenient.

I know this issue has been raised many times, but I wanted to write about it as well because it significantly affects the Battlefield experience. Battlefield has always been about variety and freedom of play, and it feels discouraging when certain modes become effectively unavailable in regions with lower player numbers.

Some potential solutions could be:

Cross-region play or more flexible region selection so players aren’t limited by their local population.

Server pooling that groups players across nearby regions.

A server browser, which has been a popular community request for years, giving players direct control over how they play.

I really enjoyed the core gameplay of the beta, but I worry I won’t be able to experience the full game simply because of my region. I hope this feedback helps highlight how important accessibility is for players worldwide.

  • Same problem in Oceania, despite the popularity of the Beta trial. Often, only have half the number of players necessary to start a game.

It's a problem with BF2042, and looks like it will be a problem with BF6.

In Aust/NZ/UK/EU there are strict consumer laws regarding products that are not 'merchantable quality', with the remedy being forced refunds. If something does not work as it is intended i.e. being able to play a online multiplayer game when you want to, then that game would fall under this definition. And before anyone mentions EA's terms and conditions, these are overridden by local laws.

As the OP points out, one solution is pooling regions. My suggestion is to lower the minimum number of played required to spool up a server to 1. Then new players can replace AI as they login.
