My feedback after ~40hrs in the beta
I’ve been playing BF in and out since BF4, BF1 is my goat, it is the benchmark for any BF, in my opinion.
I’ve stuck ~40 hours into the beta over the past two weeks and I can say it is fun, truly. However, it feels unpolished and I sincerely hope that the devs read every single post on this feedback forum to understand what hardcore and casual BF players really want because right now, this does not feel like what any of us expected.
It feels catered to more fast paced FPS players, I get it, it’s a way to get people who aren’t happy with other games (we all know which one) to make Battlefield their primary game. The game needs to be slowed down. The TTK needs to increase, at the moment, it is far too fast. I’m adding a clip to show just how absurd the TTK can be.
I play on PS5, I’m not the FPS gamer I once was so I struggle with controlling recoil these days. I don’t feel that the aim assist is overpowered unlike Call of Duty. The only time I genuinely felt the aim assist was too strong is when sniping and the scope just veers off the enemy I’m aiming at to follow some random dude running behind him. As I said, I’m casual, some people only play FPS games and know how to abuse aim assist. Hell, I remember on BF1 and V I would turn crossplay off so that I didn’t get 180°’d by KBM players.
I HATE how classes are unlocked, I fear that the medic class is going to be absolutely abused by any and all players.
These two points I’ve just made are both talking points for a lot of the player base and both (in my opinion) are necessary evils. Both can be fixed - make crossplay ‘input biased’, KBM play one another and controllers play one another. Class locked/unlocked servers in playlists. These two things are needed in this game.
The shotgun we’ve got our hands on NEEDS to be day one nerfed, I remember the Model-10 in BF1 and the Model 37 in BFV. If i recall the Model-10 was quickly nerfed but the Model 37 took some time, please, for the love of god. Don’t follow the latter in this case.
At this point I feel like I’m gurning non stop, just going to list a few other things that I feel should be addressed before launch.
- Sniper glints, rework them - too bright!
- Spotting - only recon class should be able to hard spot. Reduce length of time the ‘diamond’ remains above the head, it greatly reduces immersion.
- Spawn points/capture points - the amount of times I’ve spawned into enemy combatants is ludicrous and the final cap point on Empire State on Breakthrough is near impossible to win while defending due to how open it is, how far it from the spawn and how close it is to attackers spawns.
- Time to heal - it’s ever so slightly too quick?
- Animations - I feel animations for reviving with defibs should be added to prevent absolute spam from them. And also, add in the finger point when we spot someone or something, pleaaaaaase!!!
- Roof exploits - please stop players getting out of bounds areas once they have been made aware to the dev teams
Ultimately I was hooked last weekend and pre-ordered the game. By the time I was playing my last few rounds tonight I was questioning how long the full release will keep me coming back in it’s current state. Nonetheless I have had a lot of fun playing the last two weekends, I sincerely hope that the devs take onboard what the community has to say and that they aren’t stubborn for ego’s sake.
