My feedback for BF6
Greetings, wanted to share my feedback on the Battlefield 6 beta.
Little disclaimer. I'm not trash-talking the game for the sake of it, I see how much potential this game has, and I hope they aren't going to screw it up somehow.
Also there might be things that developers already talked about, I don't follow all the social media stuff.
NETCODE: I'm sure everyone is aware of this one. I've had matches where everyone felt like a bullet sponge, and everyone on my Discord complained about it.
The next match was good, or at least good enough to not ruin the fun.
MAIN MENU/SETTINGS MENU: It feels unnecessarily cluttered, with unnecessary button presses. The key-bind menu had few duplicated options.
LOCKED WEAPONS: When I first heard about the open weapons, I was skeptical, when I learned about the new traits, I was less skeptical.
But now that I have played the beta, I'm sure weapons need to be locked. I do understand that there are also pros to having open weapons.
But for me, there are way more downsides to it being open. In the rounds of Breakthrough with open weapons, I played to get the skins.
And a few rounds of Conquest with open weapons. The objectives are contested way less, nobody is reviving while there are 4 within 10 meters walking back and forth over me,
While I was safe to revive, I pressed hold all the time until I bled out.
Too many are kill farming with a meta setup. So I ended up doing the locked playlist in the second beta, with modes I didn't want to play.
I really hope Dice keeps its promise with a locked weapons playlist and doesn't shove it in a corner where nobody can see it or worse, make it portal only.
MAP BALANCE:
- Siege of Cairo: Even though I like all-out warfare maps the most, I liked this map the best. It also felt like the most balanced map out of all... until the rooftop camper ruined it.
-Liberation Peak: The map that I should've enjoyed the most was a bit of a letdown. On breakthrough as an offensive force, capturing the first objective was a pain. Once you manage to get it, it's a walk in the park to the last point. On Conquest it's okay but still could be better, maybe with a small cave system between A and F also connecting C?
- Iberian Offensive: On the Nato side (closest to E and D) gets trapped too easily in their spawn. There needs to be an extra passage to E. Maybe a similar path like the one north of the map that connects B and D, there should be one from the spawn to the lower part behind E.
-Empire State: Like I said earlier, I'm not the biggest fan of tiny maps. I played this map the least compared to the other maps. On Breakthrough it felt alright.
SERVER BROWSER: This we need desperately, and I don't understand why DICE doesn't see this.
- Custom rule sets for open/closed weapons
- Custom game mode rotation
- Custom map rotations
- Custom modes/maps made in portal
- Creates small communities within Battlefield
- Often plenty of admins to kick cheaters
I'd rather wait 15 minutes before I can join a server that has the game mode and map rotation I like, knowing I can stay there for as long as I please.
Instead of hoping to get good maps/modes every time the round is over.
GADGETS:
- Adrenaline Boost and C4 regenerate way too quick.
- Spawn Beacon should make a little more noise. I was actively searching for a spawn beacon that I knew was close by, even though I walked by it a couple of times. I was listening for it, but I couldn't find it by sound.
- Defibrillators revive range should be a little bit bigger, maybe at the cost of limited?
- Repair Torch should notify a tank driver better when you are repairing them, just a little sound as feedback for the tank driver so he knows that someone is repairing the tank.
MOVEMENT: The movement over all is pretty good, but the slide spamming and bunnyhopping feels out of place in a Battlefield game, I'm fine with both.... just not the spamming part.
The parachute felt more like a hang glider. You should either go fast but not that far or go slow and far... not both.
WEAPONS: I think the weapons overall were balanced really well. However, the stock SMGs are terrible compared to all the other stock weapons, I don't know if they intended it this way or not. After you unlock a few attachments, they feel balanced compared with the other weapons.
Sniper glint is way too much, it should be toned down and maybe, if it's possible, only show a glint when the sniper is looking in your direction.
TEST RANGE: This game needs a test range. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, a map with all vehicles in it that you can load into as a solo will do.
Because of this, I couldn't test the jet and helicopters. I tried the settings that I remembered, but couldn't make it work. I downloaded BF4 and did the same settings, and I was flying as I did back in the day in no time. Flying felt off, but like I said, I couldn't really test with everyone wanting to play the 1 jet and helicopter we had available and gave up.
- Spawning on a point can literally spawn you right next to an enemy. I can't confirm, but it feels like there are only a few locations to spawn near an objective, and I'm afraid that when players know these by heart, we get a lot of spawn kill farming.
- Trying to mark flags for your squad doesn't work properly all the time.
- Randomly removed as squad leader, I was playing with friends, and none of them care to mark objectives, so I always play as squad leader, and none of them asked for commands, and yet I got removed as squad leader between rounds.
- The game sometimes won't let me spawn, I have to spam the spacebar and double-click with the mouse to spawn sometimes.
- Small rocks/uneven terrain messes with ADS.
- Health regenerates too fast (not counting adrenaline boost)
- HE splash damage from walls is broken. So when you see an enemy and he hides behind something small, but he has a wall right beside him, you hit the wall with a tank or HE grenade launcher, and nothing happens, if you get a hit marker, it does absolute minimal damage. It's like the explosive round clips into the wall, then explodes and basically doesn't do any fragmentation damage.
- Stinger AA missiles shouldn't destroy helicopters that are at full HP. I reckon it's the same with jets, didn't manage to destroy one yet. 90% damage should be fine imo.
See y'all on october 10th
