SNIPER GLINTS GOT TO GO

The sniper glints in the beta are really distracting and take away from the stealthy feel that sniping should have. If you’re going to have ghillie suits and camouflage, they should actually help you stay hidden. Right now, the bright glints make it almost impossible to stay concealed, which defeats the whole purpose of sniping.

One thing longtime Battlefield players will notice is that classic Battlefield games like Bad Company, Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 3 and 4 didn’t have sniper glints. Instead, the mechanics focused on skill, positioning, and tactical play. Snipers could rely on natural cover, patience, and teamwork to avoid being detected. The absence of glaring glints meant that spotting snipers was something that took real effort—either through keen observation or communication with teammates. This created a tense and rewarding experience, where both snipers and those hunting them had to be smart and strategic.

Back in those older games, even when I wasn’t playing as a sniper and found myself getting targeted by one, I would catch myself thinking: based on my knowledge of the map, where would I hide if I were the sniper? This kind of strategic thinking was common because snipers blended naturally into the environment. It wasn’t about glowing scopes giving away their positions—it was about understanding the terrain and predicting enemy behavior. That dynamic made the game more immersive and encouraged players to really learn the maps.

In those games, sniping wasn’t just about lining up a quick shot; it was about understanding the map, knowing good vantage points, and using camouflage effectively. The game rewarded players who took the time to blend in and pick their moments, rather than exposing themselves with bright visual effects. This made sniping feel immersive and challenging, giving players a genuine sense of accomplishment when they pulled off difficult shots without being detected.

In contrast, the current sniper glint system in this beta feels over the top. On maps like Liberation Peak, the glints are so bright and widespread that it almost looks like Christmas lights scattered around. I was even able to get headshots by aiming at these glints through obstacles while using a DMR, which shouldn’t be happening. This not only makes snipers easier to spot than they should be but also removes the subtlety and stealth that are key to the role.

Players want to see a return to the classic mechanics where sniping is about skill and stealth, not flashing scopes. Removing or toning down sniper glints would bring back the balance that made sniping enjoyable in the older Battlefield titles. It would allow snipers to use camouflage and positioning effectively again, making the gameplay more tactical and rewarding for everyone.

Overall, these glints reduce the skill and stealth involved in sniping, which makes it less fun and less strategic than it should be—especially compared to older Battlefield games like Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 4, where sniping felt much more balanced and satisfying.

  • Sniper glint is the most trash design. Why do players need a reminder in a shooter video game to not stand still? So many better ways to balance things. Sniper shouldnt be OP but it should be close. And a team of 32 shouldnt have even 8 snipers at once. Even that feels like too much. But in bf6 sniping is kinda **bleep** anyways

  • Glints do nothing but make sniper not enjoyable to play. The problem I saw in the beta is the maps seem smaller. Playing previous BF games I use to love finding hiding holes and attempting to make the 1,000+ meter shots. Even combating a sniper wasn’t ever an issue. The recon class in BF6 already has spotting element to it that requires no effort. Its marks enemy’s when ever you look at them through a scope. If you have large open maps and snipers are getting marked then it makes it for thing like tanks and aerial support to take them out.

If you keep the glints then just take out any and all ghillie suits. No point in them. The whole point of recon is to get behind lines or even in vantage points. If everyone can see the a large ball of light Everytime I scope in then just take out the recon class.

Battlefield 3 was literally the first game to have sniper glint and other games copied it. Sniper glint has been in every Battlefield game since dude. BC2 is a bad example because those were much smaller maps with only 24 players total. I do agree that it’s a bit over the top and should be toned down though. Also if you haven’t noticed, there’s an attachment that reduces your scope glint.

  • They should also make it that Assault can only run at 1/2 speed, can't bunny hop, and slide only if they are minimally loaded.

Support should run at 40% as normal, no jumping and and no sliding.

Hell if you're going to penalize one class for something "realistic" then the other classes should be as well.

  • Glint in some shape or form needs to stay because sniping has gradually been made easier over time. Back in BF2 times sniping was a lot harder and also teams actually worked together to take out any good snipers and that was seen as part of the game, and fun. Anyone remembers the fact that in BF2 you had to kill every last player to win the game?

  • As a long time BF fan (started on 1942), I agree with OP. The glint is definitely over exposed. Best case scenario: drop the glint, slow down the bullet velocity and add more bullet drop. Make the sniper rifle skill based again. Worst case: reduce the size of the glint at very least.

I think in either case, please, please, please, give us a DMR that's more effective than the pistol 🤦‍♂️. The alternative DMR/close recon class is personally my favorite way to play.

then assault rifles should 1-2 headshot recon at any range.

  • combine that with the auto spotting and there is no incentive to be cautious anymore, besides that you cant even be supressed by incoming fire so you might aswell be a long range assault class
