Battlefield 6 killed my GPU
This is less of a discussion thread and more of a PSA/report for the devs.
I downloaded the game to try the Beta in Early Access, updated my graphics drivers and enabled Secure Boot, all standard to play the game. I joined a Conquest Large in Siege of Cairo to test how the game runs and feels.
Here are my PC specs: CPU - AMD R7 5700X3D, GPU - AMD RX6800 XT (XFX SWFT variant), PSU - 850 watts Antec, RAM - 16GB DDR4.
I ran the game at the Auto preset at 1440p (at roughly 80fps, ran and looked great).
Some 10 minutes into the match my system black screened and crashed during a gunfight. No crashlog available as I had to force shutdown the PC to prevent damage. Long story short, I found a diode on the board was giving a burnt smell.
Now, I can't know for certain if it was specifically my system's fault, or if the game is doing something that spikes power usage and that fried my GPU. I don't write this to complain, again this is a sort of PSA that this sort of thing can happen, and I feel it's important to let the developers know in case there's something they can do about it and maybe fix the issue should there be one.
That is all, no more Beta for me I suppose, I wish you better luck than what I had.
