The issue is NOT with the beta/the game or the Frostbite engine in general, as some here seem to think. It also occurs with other games = the issue is almost certainly due to the console and not the game. Probably with early models of the Series X. What worries me the most is that some people are saying it also happens with some of the newer models... Can anyone confirm this?
Here’s my scenario:
I bought my Xbox Series X on launch day / day one. The console has never had any issues with any games and usually runs for 12 hours straight without any crashes. The exact same issue (the console either goes to the dashboard after 5 to 10 minutes or shuts off completely with a brief green screen) happens with the following games:
1.) Starfield
2.) Battlefield 2042 (Series X version only - Xbox One version runs fine on Series X)
3.) Doom: The Dark Ages
4.) BFLabs (BF6 closed alpha)
5.) BF6 open beta
All other games (and there were quite a few) run without any issues. But I'm sure there are more games besides the 5 I've listed where the error occurs. Since Starfield, I’ve wasted endless hours searching the web and trying all possible fixes and guides to resolve this. So many hours gone. No chance, neither EA nor Bethesda (Starfield + Doom) can fix it with a software patch... It is almost certainly a hardware issue.
For everyone affected: Try it with Doom The Dark Ages. I’m sure that game won’t run for more than 15 minutes on your Series X before you get the first crash or a complete shut off...
What I’m curious about is whether all the posters here have an early Series X, or if it actually really happens with newer models as well? I’m 99% sure the issue will also occur in the final version of BF6 in October, because the exact same problem occurs in BF 2042 (Series X version) until this day. BF 2042 has never been playable for longer than 15 minutes on my Series X and has the exact same problem. Neither Starfield, Doom The Dark Ages, nor BF 2042 has ever been fixed. For the simple and logical reason that a hardware issue is hard (if not impossible) to fix with software…
I find it absolutely shocking that so many faulty Series X consoles seem to be out there! It brings back memories of the old 360 Red Ring of Death issue...
What now? Buy a new Series X and pay an extra 150 euros (now 600 euros instead of the original 450 euros) compared to launch? And still not be sure if you’ll end up with another model with the same hardware issue? This is an absolute catastrophe for everyone affected...
This is not true my buddy bought a series x 6 months ago and the beta is crashing constantly. Its happening on all types of series x consoles.
