Equipment not placing but still being used up

Quite often (I'd say maybe 10-20% of the time) when I place any equipment (spawn beacon, motion sensor, mine, etc.) it gets used up but doesn't actually place meaning I essentially lose the equipment which is making gameplay very frustrating. I would guess this is a desync between the client and server when determining if the equipment is placed in a valid location.
