Minimap doesn't point North on Fixed mode

If you have the minimap set to not rotate with you, then its position seems to just be randomised.

  • Confirmed. Compass on top says i'm looking NORTH that matches with what i see on the deployment screen but the minimap is showing me pointing down (south) instead of north.
The minimap is wrongly set to "South on top" instead of the normal "North on top"

When rotation is fixed, the mini-map will be displayed upside down compared to the large map.

Same problem. Disabling minimap view rotation results in a minimap that's rotated differently to the main map, and differently to facing direction relative to North (typically forward/top). So there's three different orientations to mentally translate between which is pretty silly.

The map views in general seem to have been designed without a compass in mind, especially given the compass is disabled by default and the main maps aren't oriented with north at the top, which is odd when there are audible cues that use cardinal directions ("tank south!" etc.). So there's contradicting designs here the way it currently is.

For consistency across the minimap, main map and facing direction I think the following should change:

    1. Re-orient the main map view to always have north at the top.
    2. When minimap rotation is disabled, orient it to align with the main map so north is at the top.

To encourage directional communication amongst everyone these additional changes could be made:

    1. Compass on by default (I could call out "enemies north!" and it would be meaningless to anyone with the compass disabled since they can't even see which way is north on the main map).
    2. Add N, S, E, W markers to the edges of the main map (see problem in 1.)
    3. Add N, S, E, W markers to the edges of the minimap so that even if you prefer a rotating minimap you can still easily tell which way is which relative to your facing direction.

    EDIT:

Just noticed that the orientation of the minimap actually changed when a sector was lost in Breakthrough mode. That definitely seems like a bug.

PLEASE FIX THIS for the final game! (I think it was also never fixed in BF1)
It's so important! I dont know why not more people play with fixed minimap rotation! It's crucial for commuications!
    we need:
-Mainmap ("M"-button) must be rotated north! which it isn't...its rotated so it fits the horizontal PC screen better = useless
-Minimap (when set to fixed) must always point north
    -Compass on by default!
This is all beneficial for better communications and teamplay...unless you don't want teamplay...

just like in BF2 the good old days:
    See Video min 0:11
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9wh9rUO_1Y
you have the minimap with N/E/S/W and open the big map (M) and it zooms out. No rotation nothing!
You know excactly where you are and can call out everything perfectly.
