PC Becomes Unresponsive With Black Screen Shortly After Game Start

I tried everything, even new windows admin account.

Sometimes I even can shoot on the Shooting range but after a few minutes all screens get black and the PC does not respond to anything (even Task Manager). Its just black.

Secureboot on, disabled this mandatory ALR thing, all new drivers, almost new windows installation.

RTX 3080TI

Ryzen 9 5900 X

32GB RAM

Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M S2H

Is my motherboard the problem?? Why do every other games run perfectly?

CM edit: edited title for clarity

So, I am unsure if they have released a patch in the last couple of days to sort this but I'm sure people will come back to me with a response.

I just downloaded and installed Batman Arkham Asylum to play through again and realised I didn't have the .NET 3.5 Framework installed (Subsequently 3.0 and 2.5 but I doubt this would affect it). I also needed to setup DirectX from the games redist folder for the game to run properly.

After doing these two things I was able to load into BF6 after a small 2-3 second hang on a Black window where previously I would only get a black window which would hang and then close after a few minutes, Much like others have been plagued by.

So double check you have .NET 3.5 Framework installed by following this video:

If it isn't installed then grab it here:

    https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet-framework/net35-sp1

I hope this helps others but I can't guarantee it will.

I was having the exact same problem, but I have been dealing with it with other games too when my GPU is under a heavy load (Games like cyberpunk, stalker 2, etc.) I even ordered a new GPU but when I uninstalled MSI Afterburner the black screen disappeared for me, try that.

Okay nevermind, it worked for like 3 hrs and I have black screens every 25 minutes again.

  • This just started happening to me randomly. After almost bricking my PC enabling secure boot, the Week 1 Beta worked flawlessly. I started playing the Week 2 Beta earlier and it worked for about an hour and a half, then all of a sudden my screens went black and my fans kicked into overdrive. In between week 1&2, I had updated my Nvidia drivers, so I rolled them back hoping that was the issue—didn't fix it. Any suggestions?

Edit: BIOS is up-to-date btw. Also, after each crash, 3 files need to be reacquired when verifying integrity.

UPDATE: I seem to have fixed it. I don't know if this could be anyone else's problem because it sounds so ridiculous, but I noticed a white light flashing on my GPU next to the power connector... And saw that the cable wasn't plugged in all the way, only 2 of 8 pins were connected.

After enabling secure boot caused me problems, I had to remove my GPU to use my onboard graphics to get back into the BIOS, so I'm guessing it was loose after I plugged it back in. Hope this helps anyone.

  • i updated everything and unplugged all other monitors, changed resolution and fps, everything. It ran for a whole game and then became black again.

the one and only thing which i can imagine is that the problem occurs because my windows is not legally activated. on my laptop with legal windows it runs norm
