Hello EA Team,
May you please make a FPS cap for the main menu? I notice in both BF2042 and BF6 my gpu is always under so much load.

Description:
While idling in the main menu, Battlefield 6 drives the GPU to 90–95% usage constantly, while CPU usage remains around 30–35%.This feels abnormal for a non-rendering/menu state – similar issue was already present in BF2042 and seems to have carried over.
My suspicion:
It looks like the game is unnecessarily rendering something in the background (or "mining/grinding" using our hardware). Menus should not push GPUs to near 100% load.System Specs:
- GPU: RX 9700 XT
- CPU: Ryzen 7 9700X
- RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX V2 (UEFI, Secure Boot On)
- OS: Windows 11 Pro (build 26100)
Evidence:
(Attached screenshot)- GPU usage: ~90–95%
- CPU usage: ~35%
- Memory usage: ~16GB (menu only)
Steps to Reproduce:
- Launch Battlefield 6 and go to the main menu.
- Observe GPU usage via HWiNFO64 / Task Manager / monitoring software.
- Note constant near-maximum GPU load without active gameplay.
Expected Behavior:
Main menu should be lightweight – GPU load should be minimal or capped, similar to other AAA titles (FPS limiter / vsync in menus).Actual Behavior:
GPU runs at near full utilization in menu, causing unnecessary power draw and heat.Impact:
- Unnecessary power consumption and fan noise
- Increased temperatures and possible long-term wear
- Negative user experience, especially on high-end GPUs

While I generally agree with your sentiment and there is likely a great deal of optimization still to come, the main menu is a rendered space. If the beta is like the playtests, you can very quickly switch to the soldier config screen with no loading. So while I suspect the GPU is "primed" even in that screen, I would agree that it should not be doing much rendering until you start seeing models and textures...
I tested that and on my system i got ~280 FPS in main menu. This should be fixed for sure.
No need to pre-heat you GPU before game. %)

For example, Call of Duty, also renders soldiers and background but the PC usage is decent, not very high.
Also, when I alt+tab the game in menu, most of the rendering should be paused. - EA_Leeuw23 days ago

Hi DevilFiree ,
As shown in the screenshot, the GPU load from the game itself does not reach 100%. However, you also have several other applications running in the background. When combined with the game, these background processes result in the GPU being close to fully utilised. This behaviour is expected and not a bug.
That said, please note that you are currently using a beta version of the game. Beta versions are typically less optimised than the final release, as they are primarily intended for content feedback and testing. In general, you can expect improved performance and optimisation in the full release.
I hope this helps!
Technically you are still in game menu when wait. Main manu don't have FPS cap.
You may check situation with VSync enabled. I forced it via NVIDIA Control panel (add BF6 first as a game!).

Well, since my screenshot when the GPU load was lower due to another process is a way to dodge the issue.
95.2% GPU load, 220 fps, 250-260W of power for a queue.
Being on Menu or not, this is not normal nor reasonable. Is not hard to lock the FPS or change the way the queue is processed to not be such an heavy hitter on the PC.
Even when the game is not focused, it still consumes 260W of power (GPU Alone) for no reason and is just a waste of resource for a simple fix.
The fact the game is at BETA is one more reason to report it.

what is the queue for exactly ? can we play if we move further in the queue ? I have early accesss but i thought we would get to play from 8:00 UTC ?

People are in queue to see the Settings of the game or probably thinking they can play. I just entered again to report the bug.
The queue is moving at a low rate.
