PC Performance drops dramatically

I think the title is self explanatory.

Whenever I play the Battlefield 6 Open beta I get SERIOUS FPS and performance drops.
Those always happen between few seconds. At first I thought it was just server issues but I soon realized that it's my whole PC being slowed down because of it.

And I have quiet good PC, when the frames don't drop the game runs smoothly. I have everything set to performance mode so it should run like that all the time but it doesn't.

here are my specs.

CPU: Ryzen 9 5950x 16-Core Processor
GPU: RTX 3070 Ti (Temp while playing is 62 Degrees Celsius)
RAM: 32.0 GB
MB: ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING
PSU: 800w

(Temp while playing is around 62 Degrees Celsius for both GPU and CPU, and those never hit 100%
while playing it jumps from 80% when the game runs smooth to 13% when it decides to **bleep** itself)

The BF6 Open beta is the only game where I have this issue and I have no idea what can be the cause.
I use played Cyberpunk 2077 on ultra with ray tracing on and it didn't happen, and that was when it went up to 100%.

I understand that it's beta so there is issues so I want to highlight this issue if anyone else has simmilar problem.

For any help, thank you in advance.

  • Hi everyone,

I had the same problem as you and I figured out how to solve it.

First, create a file with Notepad called "user.cfg".

Copy this inside and replace the 6 and 12 with your processor's specifications:

    Thread.ProcessorCount 6
    Thread.MaxProcessorCount 6
    Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
    Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
    GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 12

If you're not familiar with this, go into the game and enable the FPS indicator. There will be a green line in the top left corner with the processor's specification like for example for me:
CPU Core: 12 Job threads: 6

Place this file in the game folder.

If you're on EA, you can enable the in-game overlay.

If performance isn't good, and your graphics card uses Nvidia, go back to driver version 577.

Edit: Freeing up space on the disk where Windows is installed for some people stabilizes the frame rate.

I am a having the same problem!  3080ti, i9-12900k, 64gb ram.  Cannot get the game to go past 60fps "SIM" fps changing any and all settings.  And yes, my monitor is 100hz and I dont have the FPS capped at 60.  Game feels horrible currently and I am just in the shooting range!  Playing on steam without EA running in the background.  I hear that some people solved their issue by enabling EA overlay... I do not think I have it.

Sure hope so... would be nice to at least play the beta for 5mins just to see what the game is like

Highly doubt they'll fix it till after the second beta weekend, doesn't seem to be a widespread issue just a select few of us who just got really unlucky.

Currently 8hrs deep trying to find a fix for this manually

i played this afternoon zero problems. steady 60 fps and no lag. Tried to play again this evening and the game starts with glitching sound and fps is like 10 fps. Tried reinstalling graphic drivers, no luck. Tried the steam install repair, still no luck.

Playing on laptop with 5600h with rx6600m and 32gb ddr4.
