Battlefield 6 Beta Crash Report - Summary and Root Cause Analysis
=================================================================
Prepared for: EA Support
Date: 2025-08-11
System Specs:
-------------
CPU: Intel Core i9-14900KF
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti (16GB)
RAM: 32GB DDR5-5200MHz (XMP Profile 1)
Monitor: 1440p, 320Hz
OS: Windows 11 Home (Build 26100.1)
Cooling: 360mm AIO
PSU: 750W 80+ Gold
Findings:
---------
Two distinct crash signatures were identified during testing of the BF6 beta:
1. Crash to Desktop (CTD)
- Faulting Module: bf6event.exe
- Exception: SOFTWARE_NX_FAULT_INVALID_POINTER_EXECUTE_CODE_c0000005
- Context: Occurs in menu/settings screen.
- Root Cause: Invalid pointer execution in bf6event.exe. Likely a bug in the game client.
2. Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) / Full System Restart
- Faulting Module: eaanticheat.sys
- Bugcheck Code: 0x3B STATUS_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION
- Offset: eaanticheat+8d23fa
- Root Cause: EA AntiCheat kernel driver executing an illegal CPU instruction, causing a system-level fault.
Corroborating Evidence:
-----------------------
- No hardware-related WHEA errors in Windows Event Viewer.
- Crashes occur at stock hardware settings, with overlays and monitoring tools disabled.
- Other games (including GPU-intensive titles) run stable under same conditions.
- Multiple crash dumps from separate days point consistently to bf6event.exe and eaanticheat.sys.
Conclusion:
-----------
The crashes are not caused by the user's hardware or overclocking.
They are due to:
1. Battlefield 6 beta client bug in bf6event.exe during menu navigation.
2. EA AntiCheat driver instability causing kernel-level crashes.
Recommended Actions:
--------------------
1. Reinstall EA AntiCheat via C:\Program Files\EA\AC.
2. For BF6 only, run with:
- Stock CPU/GPU clocks
- Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling (HAGS) disabled
- Overlays disabled (EA App, Discord, GeForce Experience)
- Launch option: -dx11
- Frame Generation and DLSS disabled
3. Provide this report, crash dumps, and dxdiag.txt to EA for further investigation.
Attachments Suggested for EA:
