Performance issues and netcode issues have to be adressed before launch
Now that the Beta is nearly over I wanted to give my two cents about it, as a Battlefield veteran playing since good ol' 1942 through every single installment that has been available on the PC and being utterly put off by 2042.... In all it feels like it's a return to form for the franchise BUT!!!
Before the game launches for real, the issues in the title have to be the most pressing. I'm someone who has to play on an older rig with a humble Ryzen 5 3600 as a CPU and the Beta was struggling. Like many, I had the awful John Wick slow-motion issue hindering most of my experience with terrible netcode and awful hit registartion. At points it was so awful, I was considering cancelling my pre-order. And I will ask for a refund if these issues persist post-launch. And I'm rather concered since we all know that this was more than just a Beta, this was a demo.
What's curious is that the FPS seemed to be fine, even on higher settings. Of course in the end I had to drop down everything to the lowest.
Now, my "fix" apart from creating the user.cfg to allow the game to utilize all of my cores and threads was to limit the FPS to 45. That seemed to do the trick only it did put me in a massive disadvantage to everyone who was playing on 60+. The god-awful performance was also mainly present in Conquest. Was present but not as severe in Breakthrough or Rush, probably becuase of the 24-48 player count.
Here's hoping the dev team takes the feedback seriously. Hopefully the finished product will have better performance.
Good luck, devs!
