The game just crashes for no reason

Hi,

I’ve been experiencing completely random crashes in Battlefield 6 for a while now. The game just closes instantly without any error message. Sometimes a .dmp file is generated, and I analyzed one of them with WinDbg. The results show that the crash comes from bf6event.exe with a memory access violation (0xC0000005), specifically in the isGlimpseEnabled function. In other words, the game tries to write to an invalid memory address.

I’ve already tried quite a few things to fix this: running the game in DirectX 11, uninstalling third-party software that could interfere (Steelseries GG, Razer Synapse, etc.), reapplying thermal paste on my CPU, making sure Secure Boot is enabled in standard mode, capping FPS at 144 to reduce CPU/GPU load, lowering graphics settings, completely reinstalling the game several times, cleaning GPU drivers with DDU and reinstalling the latest NVIDIA drivers, and of course keeping Windows and the game fully updated. Despite all of that, the crashes still occur with no clear trigger — it can happen in the middle of a match, seemingly at random.

My system specs: i9-13900K, RTX 4080, fully updated Windows 11, latest NVIDIA drivers.

I’d like to know if this issue is already known by the dev team or community, and if there is any workaround or upcoming fix for this type of crash.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • I've also disabled  Screen Space AO in game, which isn't the  problem neither.

  • Hello,

Just to up this post. Are the devs at least aware of this problem ? Thanks.

  • Updating motherboard BIOS firmware to the latest version might fix the crashes.

Hey, thanks for your answer! It was done too when I changed my thermal paste!

Try disabling XMP RAM overclocking in BIOS. It can always be turned back on if it doesn't fix the crashing.

Take pictures of BIOS setting with your phone before changing them.

I've got BF6 crashed for many times. I've got an RTX4080 Super and a Ryzen 7700 onboard. I tried to install the latest Nvidia driver (580.97) and then got a BSOD in a minute after the match started. Then I switched back to the 577 driver that seemed to work better. I had a pretty good 5 hour long session with it on Friday having only 2 crashes when the game just suddenly closed. However, on Satturday the game kept crushing every match I played. I tried some other tricks like adjusting the CPU frequency for 100 MHz, adjusting the GPU and VRAM frequency for 100 MHz and some other stuff, which made no effect on the game stabylity.  Then on Sunday the game ran pretty smoothly with no crashes for about 5 hours. Then I took a break for a few hours shutting the PC down. When I started a new session the game crashed twice when I played Conquest matches. When I played Domination, Deathmatch and King of the Hill matches I had no crashes at all. So i suspect those crashes could be caused by unstable internet connection speed which is critical for playing bigger maps wihth many players. What internet connection speed do you typically have? Do you use Wi-Fi or Ethernet?
