I apologize for the delayed update. As of April 17, I have reset the 'HwSchMode' Registry entry to its default value of '0' (DWORD 32-bit). Additionally, I have updated the BIOS to the latest version, 3636.

[Background and Context]

For fail-safe and troubleshooting purposes, the Battlefield 6 application package is installed on a dedicated secondary NVMe slot (500GB Gen3 SSD). My primary NVMe slot (2TB Gen4 SSD) is configured for dual-booting Windows 10 Home ESU and Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnamon.

I have been in communication with ASUSTek technical support since April 17 to address a persistent hardware recognition issue: the secondary NVMe drive (WD Blue SN550, 92% health) is frequently not recognized during a Linux Mint cold boot (requiring a reboot to appear) and fails to be detected in Windows 10 roughly once every ten boots.

ASUSTek is currently using my feedback to investigate potential BIOS 3636 bugs or motherboard hardware defects, as all user-side factors have been ruled out. This issue has also been reported to the Linux Mint development team.

In light of this, I have concluded that the 'Unknown error 243001S:52004 and 0:85009S' I previously encountered was triggered by BIOS 3634, which is known to contain security vulnerabilities and stability issues.

I hope this final report proves helpful to anyone experiencing similar stability issues.

Analysis:

The DxDiag report flagged a RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 event associated with bf6.exe. This indicates a potential memory leak detected by the Windows Resource Efficiency Diagnostic and Resolution (RADAR) engine.

Note: Regarding the BIOS version (3634) shown in the report—this was temporarily downgraded from the latest version (3636) to troubleshoot an unrelated NVMe-SSD unmounting issue on a Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnamon dual-boot environment. I will be reverting to version 3636 shortly.

Observations:

The RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 warning suggests that bf6.exe is mismanaging memory resources on the Windows 10 Home (ESU) platform. While changing HwSchMode from 0 to 2 has stabilized the crashes for me, the underlying memory leak reported in the WER (Windows Error Reporting) data may still require investigation from the development team.

this is not the fix for some people experiencing disconnects, glad it solved it for you though.

For me reinstalling the whole game seemed to worked, i have just finished a whole operation round, took about 45+mins with no issue.

[FIX] BF6 Season 2 (v1.2.3.0) "Unknown Error" & Early Session Crashes

If you are experiencing crashes within 5–10 minutes of launching Battlefield 6 Season 2—especially if you are on Windows 10 (including ESU) with Nvidia RTX or AMD Ryzen hardware—this registry workaround may stabilize your game.

The Problem

Recent Windows Updates (specifically affecting the .NET Framework) have created a "handshake" conflict. The game tries to talk to your GPU, but the Windows software scheduler misses the signal, causing the game to time out and crash with an "Unknown Error."

The Solution: Force Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS)

This fix forces your GPU to handle its own memory management, bypassing the unstable Windows software queue.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter (Grant Admin rights).

Navigate to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers

Look for a value named 'HwSchMode'

If it doesn't exist: Right-click in the right pane > New > DWORD (32-bit) Value and name it HwSchMode.

Double-click HwSchMode and change the Value data to 2.

Restart your PC. (The change will not take effect until you reboot).

Why This Works (The Technical Background)

The .NET Conflict: BF6 Season 2 uses updated .NET Framework calls for its anti-cheat and UI. Recent security patches for Windows 10 ESU changed how these calls interact with the graphics driver.

The "Unknown Error": On default settings, the OS tries to "manage" the GPU's tasks. In the new update, this creates a delay (latency). If the delay lasts too long, the game engine thinks your hardware has failed and shuts down.

The Result: By setting HwSchMode to 2, you tell the system to use Hardware Scheduling. This allows your GPU (like an RTX 2070 Super) to talk directly to the game, bypassing the "clogged" software path created by the latest Windows Updates.

OS: Windows 10 ESU (Extended Security Updates)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (and similar Zen 2/3 CPUs)

GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super

Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming B550-Plus

Note: This is a workaround for players who find the standard Windows "Graphics Settings" toggle missing or ineffective. Use caution when editing the registry.

works for me now. i flushed my dns, and uninstalled BF6 and after downloading again it works fine

I am getting this repeatedly today.  I cannot play the game at all.  Nothing I have read fixes the issue.  My PC is very new and high performance, my drivers are all up to date, my caches are all cleared, I ran the game repair tool....nothing works.  I am out of options.  EA please HELP us!!!!!!!

Same issue. disconnects after 5 minutes of gameplay. EA Launcher. never had this before since i bought this one.

Don't waste your time on "repairs", nothing is broken from your side this time. It's a faulty update of the anticheat. With all due respect, I just can't but laugh at how Battlefield developers manage to screw up the simplest things again and again in every game. Only in Battlefield! 😁

yeah same here, never had this issue b4, worked fine last time i played (yesterday or the day before that) but to day... I can't play for more then a couple of mins.

I've tried reparing, updating and uninstalling/installing the anticheat

"reparing" the game files.

Now im re installing the game all together but im pretty sure that wont help either.

No issues yesterday or ever before with BF6.

I just ran Steam file verification, it updated some files and now I can connect and play. Ok now its disconnected me after 5 minutes error 0:85009S

Edit: I helped provide network details when this happened for the last season update, so Admin please let me know what you need.

Edit2: Installed CLoudflare Warp, as I could play fine last season during the connectiong issues, so testing if this works with no errors or disconnects.

Same thing here as well. Game worked perfectly yesterday and now i get disconnected. I was right in the middle of picking up my team mate almost revived him/her or something weird idk and BAM kicked. just... poof i was gone. and my team mate probably died still downed crawling begging for their life. THATS ON YOU EA!

Having the same crashing issue.  The most frustrating one was at the end of a game of operations that we were going to win and I got this dumb disconnect issue with probably 3-4 minutes left in the game.  Wasted 45 minutes.

another here, mentioned it in game and a few others were having the same issue. Tried updating all drivers and BIOS, running steam as admin & reinstalling anticheat. Also tried from a mobile hotspot.

Same here. Load into round and within a few minutes I'm hit with error code 0:85009S.

I've got thousands of hours in all previous games (yes including 2042 🤣) but 55 hours total in BF6!

So I go back to it today after 4 months in the hope it's improved but I can't even play it due to this disconnect error. Of course this is only happening on BF6. My PC is fine otherwise. Maybe it's a sign to to save me from this dire game. 

I did all the same other then Portmaster.

Game will crash either immediately connecting to online services or within minutes of getting into an already live game. So I note others are not having this issue. However a large group of posts since yesterday have all been about this issue
