Asian Servers

Hello DICE, EA and Battlefield community,

First of all I want to congratulate the developers on creating a game of this scale that performs this well online. The reason I am impressed with the performance is because my ping is consistently around 180ms to the "Asian" servers and the game is barely playable. Like most of the worlds population I live in Asia, unfortunately the official servers are in Japan and everyone in Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand (to name a few) is suffering as a result. Being realistic I understand that it is unlikely DICE will open servers in Singapore. However a simple fix to make a lot of customers happy would be to release private servers for console gamers so everyone can take the matter into their own hands.

tl;dr: Ping at 180ms, Asian servers too far away from Asia; where are private servers for console?

P.S.: I've been playing this series since Battlefield 1942 and I want this game to be at its best for everyone.

I will consider this matter solved when there is an official statement giving a time frame for the release of self hosted servers for consoles.

Apparently EA and DICE have discontinued releasing the server software to let people set up their own machines. Instead we get a select few located where they see fit. On the official battlefield page DICE call this "Your Server". Renting a server from a few ranked server providers is certainly not owning "Your Server", I call it an oligarchy. Paying an extra $15 a month just to rent a server in Singapore or Hong Kong, seriously? $1 per slot, $70 for a proper server and then an extra $15 for a branded server without rcon is simply a rip off.

On the other hand being able to play via 3G shows how great the "netcode" really is. There is absolutely no difference to playing on Fiber, it's still the same Japanese and South Korea players with their sub 20ms connections raping everyone in South Asia.

There are many players in Asia fed up about the latency simply unable to be vocal about it on this English forum. Instead of burying this thread I would like to hear an official statement from those who thought it was a grand idea to host the only Asian servers from Tokyo. Both Singapore and Hong Kong have quality data centers with great peering.

Thank you for taking this matter seriously
