Background Music

There is a warning about epilepsy whenever I load a game on the PS3. A common complaint about 3D is that it causes headaches. I have another complaint and that is about the background music. It gives me a headache. I am trying to concentrate on sounds to hear enemies, but the background music is blaring in my head. A complained to a friend about this, and he claimed game designers are trying to make the gameplay like a music. Well, if it were like a movie, you have to charge a third the price and I'll play it for two hours before putting it on the shelf. Games are designed to be played for much longer, and the repetitive booming of the music gives me a headache. It is so bad, that I have taken my headphones off and played with no sound. If the option to turn off the background music is not added, I have to stop playing the game. It is not that I want to stop. I cannot play it like this. If I had known the music could not be turned off, I would not have bought it in the first place.

    Please help somebody!

I'm so annoyed wit the music that actually tried to figure out myself how to disable it through system files.
Through internet research i found out that there is the main file for all user configuration called PROFSAVE_profile.

If you have WIN7, it is here:

    C:\Users\......your user name....\Documents\Battlefield 4\settings

If you open it with WORDPAD you can see the command line which supposedly controls the game music volume:

    GstAudio.MusicVolume 0.700000

I changed the value to 0 but nothing changes in game.

    There is another command:

    GstAudio.Volume 0.680000

Which controls your master volume and changing it's value actually works.
If you put to 0 (sound off) or 1 (max sound), you can see the slider of master volume changes accordingly in game menu.
(you have to change the values while the game isn't running)

But no matter what value I was giving to music volume command, nothing changed.
Please help if somebody knows something!

By the way i contacted EA customer support and they said if the developers intended to make the game without feature to turn the music off, then i have to play with music. - nice touch!

Sorry if you find my identical posts in other threads, I'm trying to post anywhere it's appropriate to get as much attention as possible.
Maybe one day the developers will understand what inconvenience they caused and give us some solution.

this back ground music is just annoying and the arrogants of those game developers not to supply an option to turn it off is unbelievable! * you people! I am getting a head ache from this stupid repetitive music!

even though I seem to remember that when I played the game the first time after the game came out, this option was available as I am always playing without the music in any game!!!

  • Same here it is really stupid to not have the option to turn off the music volume in Battlefield 4.

I wonder why they choosed to skip that option which in my opinion is a very important option.

I will not play the coming Battlefield games if there is no option to turn the music off.
