BACKSPACE, INSERT, DELETE

backspace is auto bound, how do i change this. i've been playing with the same key scheme since wolfenstein. at least give me the option to change the bind. this is ridiculous. i'm tired of developers dictating what key scheme i use. my hand has been using weird keys for 20 years and they are all that i will use. let me unbind backspace at least, forget ins and del, i just want to have backspace not bring up that nonsense. question: how to i unbind/bind backspace to what i want? it makes NO SENSE for you to have keys that are unchangeable.

sincerely,

ticked off

To anyone experiencing this problem, there is an in game option to show/hide battle log. change this setting to hide and your backspace key will be usable in combat and will open battlelog while dead. don't know about ins, and delete keys, but at least i can sprint now lol.

I am having the same issue. I don't play using WASD, I use the right side of my keyboard and need to bind Delete (Del) and Insert (Ins) keys. I also use the Backspace key for reload which the options will allow me to set, but it still brings up a Menu screen.

Right now this game is unplayable for me. It is frustrating because BF3 allowed me to set my keyboard the way I usually do with no problem. Shouldn't BF4 have the same options available?

Please note this is NOT the same issue everyone is having with changing key binds and having the game crash.

I would really like to get some attention to this problem.

arrow-keys are what I use ever since I got a crooked rung finger. It gets in the way when I use WASD, so there's no option to change. Must have these keys bindable properly.

Oh and a side-note, if you unbind ESC from menu, you can't seem to rebind it back to ESC since it will close the binding dialog.

Oh thanks for the link to the settings editor. Should hopefully help me alot.

  • The issues with the whole block above the arrow-keys (INS, HOME, Page-Up/Down, DEL and END) not being properly bindable was reported in several threads during the beta. I aswell use them and basically rely on them. Since BF1942, btw.

Currently, in my fresh install i can't bind DEL, and while Page-Up is bindable, it's keypress seems to be ignored ingame.

It is really frustrating how such seemingly easy things, wich were working in BF3, keep getting **bleep**ed up, cause it's not the first time some keys are not useable.

Edit: thanks for the tip about BF4 Editor, I was able to get my layout to work. So the Probvlem clearly lies in the Settings-Frontend and not the game or engine in it self.

This video wll fix all your problems. It will set all of your BF4 settings exatally how you had them on BF3!!!

the Backspace key can be hidden in the options menu. You will see a menu that has lots of "Show" and "Hide" options. Hide "Ingame battlelog"

  • Try changing the following key:

    GstKeyBinding.infantry.ConceptMenu.0.button [some number] in your C:\[user] Docs\Battlefield 4\settings\ PROFSAVE_profile to

    GstKeyBinding.infantry.ConceptMenu.0.button 1
