Bad Company 2 Low Framerate GTX 980

Hi, (Excuse me for my bad english :P)

I bought a new PC:

i7 5820k

Gtx 980  Asus Strix

32 GB RAM (I know)

2 TB HDD (Installed here)

500GB SSD

MSI X99A SLI PLUS USB 3.1

And I´m having a lot of framerate problems. The game goes at 20 fps in maximun and minimun settings.

My old pc, having a 660, can keep 60 fps in maximun settings without problems.

I tried to reinstall, repair and the compatibility mode without results.

Any idea?

  • HERE IS  a Step by Step on how you changed the frame rate

    Go to your SEARCH

    Type in         settings.ini

then move down till you see RefreshRate...

if its not 60 then change it

    Move down to DxVersion

    change Auto to 9

when you click to close the file it will ask you if you would like to Save changes...click save

    that's it

    thanks Rugburn

  • I too have the same problem.
I have a nvidia gtx 970 and a core i5 3570k andthe game go at 20 fps max.
To temporarily solve the bug, delete the file in "start / documents / BFBC2 / GameSettings.ini".
But each level of loading the file is re-created with the bug ... Even read-only.
And we must repeat the operation ...

Please EA find a solution 🙂

    EDIT: I use origin plateform

    Hey.

I was beginning to think this was only me. i7 4770K, Msi 980 ti, 16gb 2133, 500gb SSD. Everything and I mean everything I own runs at around 60fps @ 4K with the occasional exception but came back to play BFBC2 for the first time since upgrading to a 4K screen and it's hitting maybe 12-15fps before crashing. Previously ran at 90-110 using a GTX 770 at 1440, everything set to high. Tried removing the settings.ini file, boots fine and then reverts to type. It's not a Windows 10 issue, Nvidia drivers are bang up to date and I was playing GTA V just an hour ago with everything smooth as silk.

We could try reinstalling everything, reinstall Punkbuster and see if that works. Apparently that has been affecting the Steam versions. Who knows. Wonder if the powers that be read these posts and just laugh...

A fix! In the settings.ini file, alter the following. RefreshRate=60 & DxVersion=9. No idea what made me think of that but tried it three times, just to be on the safe side. Running at a full 90fps on 4K now. Let me know if this helps your problems. Hope you both manage to get it working.

Excellent news. If it screws up again, run it in compatibility mode with XP or 7. Apparently this is an issue with all pre 2013 EA titles.
