Battlefield 1 character often suddenly stops moving

Hi all,

I recently picked up Battlefield 1 with Prime Gaming and have been enjoying it a lot. The one thing that is bothering me a lot though, is some kind of movement bug. When walking, sprinting, or aiming down sights, my character just decides to stop moving, lowering sights, or stops shooting immediately sometimes. I can't really find what could be the cause since it's kind of happening at random all the time. It's very frustrating since the only way to move on is to release the 'W' (or another movement key) and pressing it again to continue moving.

I'm on Windows 10, RTX 2070 and i7-7700K, using a Razer Huntsman Elite keyboard and Razer Naga Chroma mouse. Has anyone else experienced this problem before and did you manage to fix this?

This is the solution (big thanks to Boc_nt for posting this!)

SOLUTION: This is an issue with Origin In-Game Overlay. For some reason I could not disable the overlay using the Origin options, but I managed to disable the overlay completely by deleting or renaming 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin\igo64.dll'. Note this will disable the overlay for all your Origin games and the file may need to be renamed/deleted after every Origin update.

I also disabled Steam overlay and re-installed origin (removing the Steam installed client with Geek uninstaller and re-downloading off Origin's website) - these things may be worth trying if the above solution does not work for you.

  • Is there another controller or joystick plugged in? If not, then maybe a custom keybind is causing it. Try resetting your keybinds in BF1 settings menu.

  • Thanks for the suggestion. I've got an Xbox One controller with the official wireless adapter connected to my pc, but I'm not using it (and it's not powered on). I've tried resetting the controls, but that didn't work, unfortunately. I'm reinstalling now and will disconnect the wireless adapter to check if that maybe works!

  • Reinstalling and disconnecting my controller receiver didn't work, unfortunately ☹️

I guess it's just some hardware-specific bug or something, unlikely to be patched.
