Battlefield 2 on Windows 7 Ultimate - Mic does not work

Hello,

I am an avid BF2 player.  SInce I updated to Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit my mic has stopped working when I am in the game Battlefield 2.

I am using the a Creative Fatality Head set with the separate plugs for Mic and Headphones (not USB).  ON a side note is the USB a digital signal whereas the plugs are analog?

My mic works perfectly in WIndows 7 environment, internet etc.  It only does not work in BF2.  When I run the microphone test under the Audio tab in the BF2 environment it does not even indicate that there is a microphone - it does not pick anything up.

Also, I went under the program files into the Battlefield 2 folder and ran the BF2Voicesetup.exe separately.  Again it did not recognize a Mic being available.

I uninstalled and reinstalled BF2 with my headphones plugged in and when it got to the Mic setup portion of the install it did not find a Mic.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
