Battlefield 2 Patch 1.5 account error/crash

So i recently decided to get Battlefield 2 out of the old closet and installed it on my PC. Ran fine. Updated it to 1.41, then 1.5. Ran smoothly, then installed "Project Reality 1.0" and it runs smoothly aswell.

However, when i installed BF2 on my laptop, it ran smoothly, untill i patched it. Now whenever i run the game and get to the account login screen, it says: "LOCERROR_Unable to open current profile" I ignore it, create a new offline account, and go directly to singleplayer. However, when i click "Start singleplayer game" it crashes to desktop without an error even showing up. I've re-installed the game like 4-5 times TODAY trying to fix this issue. anybody know how to fix it? Thanks!
