Login into www.pogo.com and create a EA Classic screen name.
Login into profile.ea.com using the EA email id and password.
Scroll down the page, click on " Add Persona".
Select option " existing EA classic screen name". It will open a login window.
Login using pogo screen name and password.
Click on " Add Persona".
Now pogo screen name should appear under " Select a default persona" heading.
Double click on the pogo screen name.
Due to the age of Battlefield 2142 it seems like it still requires some EA Classic account linked to your actual Origin account, which should be done via the steps above.
After you've created and linked a Pogo (EA Classic) account to your Origin account, please restart Origin and try again.

I'm having the same issues.
I got a classic persona already but getting the same activation message. Looks like your activation servers are having issues.
