BATTLEFIELD 2142 AND BATTLEFIELD 2; COMPLETE COLLECTION

Hi,

I've recently found my Battlefield 2142 and Battlefield 2; complete collection games (DVDs) and installed them successfully on my pc. When I tried using multiplayer for both but a message telling me I needed to install the latest patches poped up. I clicked on the in game pop up but this DID NOT launch the autoupdater. I then tried to register my keys with ORIGIN in order to update them through this service BUT BOTH KEYS WERE NOT RECOGNISED. 

1) How do I go about registering these games with origin?

2) How do I go about getting the latest patches from EA?
