Hi, I'm having a serious problem with the latest patch of my old bf 2141. I've already downloaded and installed 1.50 but when it comes to 1.51 it doesn't works. It asks me the authorization of installing, i click ok, but then nothing happens... I run Windows 8. Any Hints? (i already tried to run with XP compatibility pack 3 but same problem)
What I did was finally get an EA tech/rep on the phone and after several tries and about four different phone calls (went through all sorts of tweaks that didn't work) it boiled down to linking the thing to Pogo and Origin together. Once that was done it auto-updated to 1.51 from the 1.4 retail disc and now is listed in Origin games but when loggin in ya gotta go through the Pogo user name and password. Why they don't auto connect these any way is beyond me but it is a hoop you have to jump through being an older game. The best way is to let them (EA) call you (from their site) then just say let's link the game to Pogo from Origin it'll save a lot of time. Spent hrs doing all sorts of things like ending processes and what not and don't let 'em say take command and create an Admin account because then you open yourself to hackers if you get hacked all that was needed was to link the accounts. Sorry for all the repeated info but it cost me 200 minutes on my cell phone that I have limited time on...grrrr.
try doing a search for any file or folder that says battlefield 2142 or bf2142...
then go into the registry and search and delete the same.
My problem was more fundamental.. I did not know that this value edition of Battlefield 2142 was ver. 1.0... (it does not say )
when I tried the 1.40 to 1.4 or the 1.51 patch the freaking Install wizard kept saying You Already have a newer version installed.?" WTF!
I found a web link to a series of patches 1.04, 1.06.... I stared with the earliest patches and was able to progress up to 1.51
AXXhole EA help in India (Ramshi?) was clueless , and then this idiot just quit responding to the chat... left me there for hrs.
my situation is that when i try to execute from origin i get "GR2142 stopped working..." and nothing more.
Talked with 2 guys at EA support, they asked me to subscribe to POGO, then i started origin and it has downloaded a small patch. But the result is the sme, "BF2142 stopped workin".
Damn axxhole at EA, this is an easy way to make money.
