Battlefield 2142 Serial Key Redemption

Hi, recently found my old DVD copy of Battlefield 2142 with the intention of playing the game again, but for some reason, when i try to redeem the Serial key, the EA App just tells me the code is invalid? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
