Battlefield 4 - 2 GTX 780's in SLI

Hey,

I get around 90-100FPS on BF4 with a single GTX 780 (This is with everything on ultra, including AA, etc), I purchased a second and SLI'd them because I'd like 120+ FPS for my monitor.

I actually got a performance DROP with the SLI'd card.. I now run at 60FPS with frame drops to 40/50.. any help?

Cheers.

  • I have a similar problem.  Although my FPS never seem to drop below 50, it's still very annoying.  I'm using 680s in SLI, 1920x1080, using the Ultra settings.  I've tried everything under the sun to fix the problem, and as far as I can tell it's just a bug in the game.  Using GPU-Z, my GPU usage never gets above 50% in BF4, so the game is not utilizing my cards properly.  In contrast, the 3DMark app uses 100% of my cards in SLI and my scores are where they should be for my specs.

As a comparison, I have a couple of machines with single 780 cards, 1 of which has a significantly slower CPU than my SLI rig.  Those 780s should perform worse than my 680s in SLI, but they are smooth as butter on every map.  So it appears it's just an SLI issue with the game and/or the NVidia drivers (I'm using 331.82).

I think we just have to wait for a patch.  In the meantime, I think I'll just lower the graphics quality to High and disable SLI when I play BF4.  ☹️

  • With yesterday's patch (dated 12/20/13), I thought the issue was solved.  The patch fixed an SLI "flickering" problem.  Suddenly I was getting a constant 60 fps on Lancang Dam, which was ALWAYS choppy (i.e., had poor framerate) in the past.

The game continued to play great for another 3 levels, then it started to get choppy again.  I quit the game and started on Lancang Dam again.  This time it started out fine, but got choppy within a minute or two.

So, while it seems better, they still have a lot of work to do to fix SLI in BF4.  Here's hoping they make it a priority.  I have yet to see them acknowledge the issue on their "issue tracker" page.
