Might of found a solution that so far has worked for me. It crashed within 5 minutes everytime and I just got a new install of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.
I did a clean install with an older nvidia driver. I got 2 gtx 580s and a gt 430 for dedicated PhysX so I tried driver version 310.70. No probs so far.
I might work the same with ATI drivers.
Same for me.
Already did everything said in this topic... nothing work..
So your solution is to format and reinstall windows ?
Really ? ☹️ ☹️
There is no other game where I have this problem !!

I thought the full text of the error may be helpful:
DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The application's device failed due to badly formed commands sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that should be investigated and fixed. "). GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280", Driver: 33182

Please try turning off Ambient Occlusion, as suggested by @lxgfusionfoe before (thanks!) over here:
- Right click on desktop-> Nvidia Control panel
- From 3D Settings go to Manage 3D settings
- In the Global Settings tab, set the Ambient occlusion to Off
- In the Program Settings tab, set the Ambient occlusion to Off
