Battlefield 4 DirectX Function (GetDeviceRemovedReason) Error

I am receiving the following error after I crash mid game:

DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The applicatoin's device failed due to badly formed commands sent by the applications.  This is an design-time issue that should be investiaged and fixed. "). GPU: "AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series", Driver: 13.11 (13.25.18/-131029a-164333E-ATI)

I am running two Radeon 6950's in a crossfire configuration.  I am using the current 13.11 v8 beta driver.  I have also rolled back the driver and used it in a non-crossfire configuration.  The game has been very choppy for me.  Weather I have my settings on Ultra, High or Meduim with crossfire enabled or disabled.  I have a feeling that this is an AMD driver issues, but wanted to post here as well.

Awesome! I will try this out as well. Thanks for the help!

    UPDATE:

Flashing my BIOS and updating chipset firmware did not work.  Played for one and a half hours or so and did not have a problem.  After playing a little while later it crashed after 20min.  The search continues.

Its normal....I can do what you think that nothing will solver this problem, early or late that will happen again. The EA dont care about our softwares problems, they blame our PC hardwares.

    Interesting

this error happend to me now the second time, one was last night and now the second just happend. I have to say that i played bf3 with NO such error , and i played bf4 for 4 months and the error came just now .

Now i know this 100% , the only thing that i changed to my computer in this timeframe was the ingame resolution , from 1280 *720 to my native 1920 *1080 . I will change it back , and play a while wait for the error to come again. If i am not coming back with an update it means that , that was the solution for me

    my system :

    i5 2500K

    12 gb ddr 3

    gtx 560 TI oc II

    win 8 64 bit pro

I had the same with BF3 and the solution was to underclock your GPU. MSI has a tool called Afterburner that can overclock and underclock. Going down for - 10 MHz helpt me also with BF4.

Was able to play for about 2 weeks with very few problems, then i start getting this error a couple days ago as soon as the game loads the level, cant play the game at all.  this is a severe bug that needs to be fixed.

there was no cause for it seeing as how i have not messed with any drivers or directx since ive ben playing the game.

  • I got the same issue.
Got specs 4770K, 8GB 1866 Kingstone, Asus Maximus Hero VI, Gygabite 780Ti Ghz Edition

I have returned FOUR videocards (Gygabite 780 ti Ghz Edition) to the shop because I thought that the problem is the videocard. They look at me like an idiot.

I have reinstalled drivers, directx, windows and no luck at all.
    The trouble still exist.

  • Hi guys

I've ben battling with chrases in multiple games*, since i build my new rig. I've tried (i suppose) every "fix" i could find. I finally bit the sour apple and downclocked my GPU a bit (Gigabyte Geforce 780 TI GHz). After the downclock all of my problems were solved. I hope i can save some of you guys the trouple of fix after fix.

I've wondered a bit about where the problem lies. My first conclusion was the OC'ed GPU, but some games, even new ones** ran like a dream every thing maxed out. My second conclusion (might not be right), is lazy devs who dosn't run their games in beta long enough to figger out which types og GPU's that might give problems.

Nevertheless I hope you guys can use my advise, and if not I wise you the best of luck.
