Battlefield 4 Dlc free giveaway was part of the promotional event "road to battlefield 1" as all Hardline Dlcs. It is sure that it wouldn't be a great deal paying 15$ for each dlc or 50$ for premium now but you can still wait for a good discount on premium (usually around 15-20$) and get the 4 Dlc plus all the bonus items you won't get even with all the dlc for free.
it's not reasonable asking for everything for free.
Regarding your veteran battlepack you should contact ea support, as we can't assit you with these matters.

Not paying for a game that has lost it's fanbase online in that game, if they gave it away once, they can do it again, they just are money grubby is all.
I will just buy a newer game, and save money on a game that has been past it's prime.
Ohhh, and I was a BF3 Premium member , so I am pretty certain I have given EA enough money with how long I have been loyal to them, and even converted a lot of buddies from COD to BF.
