Battlefield 4 frame rate issues

Hello everyone,

I recently installed BF4 on my new rig and am having some weird framerate issues. I can normally run at a smooth 60+, but occasionally (every 5-10 minutes or so), the frame rate will suddenly dip into the 30's and 20's, with nothing game-wise triggering it.

It'll just drop to 25 frames and stay that way (even in the respawn menu) for a minute or two, then shoot back up to my normal rate. It's strange, and I'll be darned if I can figure out the cause. Changing graphics settings also doesn't affect it, and it doesn't happen with any of my other games.

For the record, I'm running an AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card with a  AMD FX-8350 4.00 GHz Eight-Core AM3+ CPU 8MB L2 Cache & Turbo Core Technology CPU.

I also already tried the remedy at here.  It helped, but didn't stop the random drops completely.

Help?

Much appreciated!

  • Hello

    • Try to reinstall the game.
    • Delete the configuration file settings of the game. (My Documents---folder Battlefield 4)
    • Completely remove and re-install the driver for your graphics card.
    • Check for updates your Windows.
    • Clean the system. (AdvancedSystemCare or CCleaner)
    • Try turning off antivirus.
    • Try disabling the option "Origin in the game"

Also, you need to check the load of your CPU and GPU. You can download this program.

Make sure that in the game enabled Mantle.

  • Definitely disable Origin in game as it causes the very problem that you describe. Also are you using Mantle or Direct X? Have you tried both and if so does the problem happen on both?

The solution that you linked mentions MSI Afterburner, however Afterburner frequently causes problems with BF4 so I recommend disabling that program.  Also are you using any other programs such as Raptr or Razer Cortex to optimize your game settings or peripherals?
