Battlefield 4 PS4 "You have lost connection to the server"

We recently upgraded our internet from Rogers (I'm Canadian) and we were given a advanced wifi-modem from rogers called the CGN3ROG. The router works great, for the most part. The range is good, and I have much faster download/upload speeds than I ever did before.

The problem is, everytime I try to join a server on Battlefield 4 (PS4 version), it loads for 2 seconds, goes into a black screen and says "I have lost connection to the server". So I cannot even play multiplayer what so ever. I have a NAT type 2. I have tried to open specific ports I found on EA, with still no luck (The wifi-modem only supports 10 Port entries). The only solution I found was to create a static IP for my Ps4 and put that IP address into the DMZ setting and I can confirm that worked, but I was wondering if there was another way around this because sometimes I bring my PS4 when travelling and when I come home I have to do everything all over again with the static IP.

I checked my firewall settings and they are on the minimum security setting so it should be okay. I also tried to disable UPNP with still no luck. I have run out of solutions.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is EA going to help us? I feel like they're just avoiding this issue. I've been having this problem for over a year now.

    Hey @Bowsap,

ah that's too bad to hear! =(

But let's try the following to get you back into the game.

A wired connection is required for this.

    1. Take your platform offline and disconnect it from it's power source.
    2. Restart your router.
    3. After the restart, restart your platform.
    4. Try to connect to a game again.
    5. If this didn't solve your problem, write down these ports to forward them:

    • How to open ports depending on your router:
    • Static IP addresses for stable connections:
    • Google DNS:
    • If it still doesn't work, try the basic trouble shooting and afterwards the advanced version for your platform.

    Hi @D4rkD1amond

please feel free to open a new Topic with your issue and explain your situation there.

Instead of bringing an old Thread back to life which is already 5 years old.

    Thanks 🙂

    Greets,

    Travis

    @D4rkD1amond

Not been rude at all 😉

just a friendly reminder as this happens sometimes that people don't see the date of the latest post in a Topic if they look for any certain issue. It just brings up old Topics again.

CM's would have probably advised you to do the same.

    Greets,

    Travis

    Hey @D4rkD1amond,

Oftentimes instructions from older threads may be a bit outdated, so it's generally best to start a new topic if you're unable to find a more recent thread about something you'd like to discuss. In cases that involve troubleshooting that's primarily to make sure you wouldn't be wasting your time with outdated info that may no longer be accurate.

I believe that's all @Its_Travis_199 was trying to get at here. 🙂

In this case I'd definitely try going through the steps here to make sure you have the listed ports open for PS4, as this particular link should be up to date.

I'll be locking the thread here as it's definitely quite old, thanks!
