The main aggravating factor for me was the graphics driver. I had to roll back to the 314.11 driver in order to gain any stability, at the expense of performance and getting nagged by the game every time. nVidia have basically broken support for the GTX 560TI in more recent updates to their driver set and if the last six months are any indication it's not going to get any better in the near future.
Having recently changed to a new graphics card, I no longer get nearly as many crashes. I still get the stuttercrash and all the other fun little bugs that everyone else complains about, but stability is now at the baseline level of crappy rather than the ridiculous level I experienced in the demo.
