I like to think they are going back to BF4 urban maps and destruction, maybe a touch of BF4\BF1 levolution. That would be a step up, "next level" from BF2042. It's no coincidence that the most popular maps have always been the crazy CQB.

Lag to servers is a factor, so you might be very useful in driving how the game deals with this.

Judging by the shear numbers of people queuing up as beta testers, DICE you can sure of one thing... we WANT this to be the best ever BF.

At least for me, I think they're missing the mark again. I want a more distilled experience, yet they still seem hyper-focused on more, more more! Bigger, badder, cooler! More non-stop action, more non-stop adrenaline pumping frag-fests, more gunfire, explosions, non-stop pure chaos!! More!! More HUD blips and bloops! More mini map markers! Bigger and brighter rifle scope glints, more kewl body awareness, more guns taking up 75% of your screen when you run, more player hitbox collisions with objects under, behind, and in front of you especially when lying prone! More glitches, zips, and zaps in menus! More zooming in and out of the land map! More frenetic everything in general! "Let's goooo!!!! 🎉" Several studios contributing to this now, so let's make the franchise even more out-of-touch with Bad Company 2 fans ;) (Yes, I'm biased, hehe)

In the video, they say things like:

    • "... How do we build on that and push Battlefield to the next level" (Executive Producer)
    • "So in joining the Battlefield team, it was about the opportunity to give the team that space to do something just more amazing even than they've done in the past." (GM)
    • "Driving a cinematic experience to a level that's never been done on Battlefield before"

To me, it sounds like they've made their decisions already, for the most part. Bigger, badder, cooler, more frag-festy, more adrenaline pumping chaotic action. It's evidenced by the Marketing pre-alpha footage at the end that just looks like 'more of the same' that I've been seeing for like 10 or 15 years. Personally, I want quiet confidence in Battlefield again. Not over-the-top everything.

I know Bad Company 2 wasn't perfect. But I do miss the simpler times of "less is more", in terms of graphics, player movement and controls, less frenetic action, smaller # of players per match, no rifle scope glints, open chat among friend and enemy teams, if desired, an actual Hardcore Conquest mode that works (i.e., doesn't reveal your location via the mini map or HUD *ever*). With BF3 and every one since, I've just felt the games are just trying to show off graphically no matter the impacts to player control and fun. Even if you want to fly a jet or I think helicopter in BF2042, it's already airborne? Sigh. Yes, I will just keep playing BC2 forever, no problem, even though EA cut all servers off.

Waited in line of 60k people only to be told I had the survey opened in another tab. Would not do anything else. Refresh and I'm now 208,001 in line. Such a stupid way of doing things by using another website such as Queue It. It is a big mess and will only frustrate the BF community from the start.

  • I signed up to Battlefield Labs, but I have my doubts I will get to contribute. I am in Oceania.
