Being kicked when on the same network?

I've had a consistent issue where my roommate on the same network starts up his game going just to the menu and then my game kicks me from my existing game saying I was disconnected (This can be vice versa). Once both games are started it works just fine until we both restart our games. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?

We also cannot be in the same squad when joining servers so we have to join via the server browser, Otherwise it will refuse to connect to the one that is not already in the game saying 'Failed to Connect'. I believe this all to be linked to being on the same network as I can join other friends existing in my squad just fine. This issue isn't as annoying as the one I first stated but I believe they're linked in someway.

I've yet to find any others talking about this issue as of yet but I can easily reproduce it so I can't be the only one right?
