I remember something like this happened back on Battlefield 4 and had to do with the game being seen as a background process.. What fixed this for a friend of mine back then was to change the game mode to either Windowed or Borderless.
Not the most elegant solution, but you could try if it would change anything.
If you can't get into the video settings to change that before the issue happens, go to "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Battlefield 1\settings\" , open up the file PROFSAVE_profile there with a Notepad, and set GstRender.FullscreenEnabled to 0.
