Bf1 constant crashes in dx11, dx12 crashes on startup

Bought BF1 this black friday and it's brought nothing but issues. I tested the beta version some time ago and had no issues at all, I even bypassed the SLI problem by using a custom profile and it worked great! The full version on the other hand is nothing but trouble to me. To start SLI makes the game unplayable with flickering (known problem), which is fine as a single gtx 780 will play it at ultra@ 1080p. My real issue is that the game keeps crashing to the desktop every 2-30 minutes. It doesn't matter if i'm playing campain or online. DX12 doesn't even boot the game and crashes before the menu screen. (it worked with the beta).

Full specs:

i5 4690k @4,5

2x gtx 780 in SLI

2x4gb ddr3 1600mhz

Game has been tested on both a 250gb samsung ssd and a 1tb seagate hdd.

I want a refund

The only thing that stands out to me is your processor. It's almost identical to the minimum required processor except that it has only 32GB max memory whereas the minimum processor has 64GB max memory.  You can see the comparison of your processor vs the minimum required here:

    http://ark.intel.com/products/80811/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz

    http://ark.intel.com/products/88191/Intel-Core-i5-6600K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz

Users with only the minimum 8GB of system RAM also seem to report more errors than users with 16GB which also may be contributing.

    Battlefield 1 systems specs:

    MINIMUM SPECS
    • OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
    • Processor (AMD): AMD FX-6350
    • Processor (Intel): Core i5 6600K
    • Memory: 8GB RAM
    • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon™ HD 7850 2GB
    • Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce® GTX 660 2GB
    • DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
    • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection
    • Hard-drive space: 50GB
    RECOMMENDED SPECS
    • OS: 64-bit Windows 10 or later
    • Processor (AMD): AMD FX 8350 Wraith
    • Processor (Intel): Intel Core i7 4790 or equivalent
    • Memory: 16GB RAM
    • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon™ RX 480 4GB
    • Graphics card (NVIDIA): NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 1060 3GB
    • DirectX: 11.1 Compatible video card or equivalent

Thanks for the reply, this is getting pretty frustrating :\.

Well, I do get the standard (battlefield1 has stopped working) And in Event viewer the code is 0xc0000005 which i found means the CPU is being "overused". The tempratures on both the cpu and gpu are bellow 72 max.

I couldn't test the temprature when the crash occures, as I'm not able to load into a map/game anymore. (Yeah im having great luck with this). I reinstalled bf1, and ran the newest 376.19 drivers from nvidia, but it wouldn't load into any map/game on single or multiplayer (it just hangs on the loadingscreen to the map), so i rolled back the driver to 376.09 and it worked for one match 30 minutes before crashing to the desktop, and proceeding to not launch the games/maps again..

Game runs smooth as silk prior to crashing, and its very sudden. I also don't have any backround programs running other than origin.

    Thanks for the reply

The CPU definetively has the raw power for the task, but i will look into trying out 16gb's as i am running the game at ultra which might require more than 8gb's. My old gaming notebook got 16gb's and plays the game without crashing, but its way under the minimum requirements and i have to put settings to 720p minimum to get playable framerates.

I also suspect there will be a bf1 patch before christmas to fix common issues. Heres hoping I will resolve this before that time.

Running the game on Ultra with a processor just below the min may be contributing to the problem. Does the problem repeat itself if you run it on High or Medium video settings? Are you using the in game video settings to manage the video quality or GeForce experience? If using GeForce experience try using the in game settings instead since GeForce seems to try to force the max settings your GPUs can handle which may not play well with your current CPU.

Tested it on minimum visual settings @ 1080p, but it still eventually crashed like before. Ram usage was below 5gb's most of the time aswell. It's to the point were I can't finish a single match.. I really don't think there is anything else to test unless someone finds a solid fix for this issue. I have seen alot of people with gtx 770's and 780's reporting dx crashing just like me, so hopefully the developers will make a patch to fix this.

  • we get 3 driver versions in a row but Battlefield 1 keeps crashing :D
