BF1 Crashing on Ultrawide

Recently got a new ultrawide monitor and this seems to be causing crashing. Previously I was able to play maybe 1 game before crashing, now it's pretty much crashing the second I load into a game. Game ran perfectly well on my previous monitor with otherwise the exact same PC. I've tried reinstalling the game and refreshing my drivers, but to no avail. Additional fixes I've tried include using DX11, turning off any ingame overlays, and lowering my FOV to sub 70. None have worked so far.

I have gotten a crash message only once ever (attached). Usually the game just dies and sends me to the desktop, so I'm not sure if it's the same issue each time.

Specs:

RTX4090

i7 14700K

64GB ram

  • To address crashing with your new ultrawide monitor:

    1. Check Resolution: Ensure the game is set to the correct ultrawide resolution.
    2. Use DisplayPort: Connect the monitor using DisplayPort for better stability. MyDestinyCard
    3. Monitor Refresh Rate: Lock the monitor’s refresh rate to 60Hz in NVIDIA Control Panel.

These steps should help improve stability while gaming!

  • Ensure that your monitor's refresh rate and resolution settings are compatible with your graphics card. While you've refreshed your drivers, it's worth double-checking if there are newer drivers available directly from NVIDIA's website.

Ensure that Battlefield 1 is fully updated to the latest version. Use the game platform (like Origin) to verify the integrity of Battlefield 1's game files. Corrupted or incomplete files can lead to crashes. Monitor your GPU and CPU temperatures while playing.

Overheating components can cause instability and crashes. If you've overclocked your GPU or CPU, revert to stock settings temporarily to see if stability improves. Check Windows Event Viewer for any specific error messages related to the crashes maximtimeclock

This might provide more insight into the root cause.Try running Battlefield 1 in compatibility mode for a previous version of Windows (like Windows 8 or 7). Close unnecessary background applications, especially ones that could overlay on the game (like Discord overlay, GeForce Experience overlay, etc.).
