BF1 Freezes In Fullscreen, Slows PC Forcing Shutdown

Well, your PC meets the minimum system requirements for Battlefield 1:

Since you changed your graphics card, then you I'd recommend to reinstall the game and reinstall/update graphics driver using DDU http://bit.ly/2rmqUqR  http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/119399/en-us 

If that doesn't work, try to run a clean boot and check how your game works: https://help.ea.com/tr/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

I really don't want to redownload the game, but I guess it's worth a try.

I uninstalled my drivers with DDU and they have updated a couple times since I installed the gpu. I'll try a clean boot first I guess.

The in game auto setting and GeForce Experience say I can basically max the settings, fullscreen AWAYS freezes and windowed only works on low setting that Ive been able to test as I don't have time to check all the settings. Once the game goes slow or freezes, my whole system is unusable. Only this game.

Try to to disable "Origin in game" overlay in Application Settings of Origin and in the Game Properties tab.

Alright, so I tried all your suggestions and fullscreen doesn't work and requires I reboot every time. However, Borderless does work so I guess I will have to use that. 

@Jibpsy Can you please try to disable Xbox DVR on your Windows 10 and test the game?

Worth a try but didn't work. I turned off every thing that runs during the game. I am curious as to whether there is any performance difference between fullscreen and borderless with this game. Some games there is. Also, in borderless, I assume it runs with the resolution of my display settings? It looks like 1080p. Anyways, thanks again for the suggestions.

I've tried communicating with EA but they seem to be a mess. Chat doesn't work for some reason, so I sent an attached text document explaining everything. I got 4 emails from 4 different support people and had to re explain 4 times, again after the text document and my initial ticket description, what was going on and haven't heard back.  Not sure what is going on, usually have better luck with them.

@Jibpsy don't let GeForce experience determine the settings for your game, always use the in game settings to do that. GeForce always tries to max graphics even when its detrimental to system performance.  Your RAM and GPU are at the recommended levels but your processor is near the minimum required level to play BF1 and BF1 is a CPU intensive game so I'd recommend dropping the graphics to high and see if you can play Full screen.

Your dxdiag also shows direct X 12, I'd try DX11 as DX12 has issues. I also recommend disabling shadow play, and frankly I would uninstall GeForce experience and just install the graphics, audio, and physX drivers. I had much better system performance when I stopped installing GeForce Experience. As others have said I'd also disable the Xbox DVR functionality.

Thanks for your reply. I actually found with my GTX 960, GFE always underestimated the GPU and I usually customized the settings myself. In regards to this game, both the game and GFE say I should be able to max the settings. I can max the settings in borderless and windowed mode, but this isn't a settings issue as even on the lowest settings, as soon the game is in fullscreen, the game freezes and my whole system slows down forcing a hard reset.

As for my CPU, It actually boosts over 4GHz by default. A FX 8350, which is recommended, is just an overclocked FX 8320 which is what I have. The 8350 just runs at the boosted clock speed. I also ran the game fine when I had a GTX 960 2GB. I could put the game on max with auto resolution or whatever, or run the game at medium. But that was over 2 months ago. I don't think it is my GPU upgrade though because literally every other game works just fine.

I tried both DX12 and DX11 and found negligible difference in performance. Although occasionally in DX12 the game would lock at 40fps instead of 60fps. Usually restarting the game would fix it, for a bit. I have been keeping it on DX11 though.

I also tried turning off all DVR applications, GFE, Xbox, Cortex, still doesn't work fullscreen.

I'll do the scan. I finally have had responses from EA support and they noticed an issue with a file that seemed related to Crysis not launching. They got the games mixed up I think but suggest fixing that file and if that still doesn't work they will escalate this issue.

I appreciate your suggestions. I know GFE doesn't always work well, and sometimes the updates break more of their features than they fix, but I have had no other issues and the game ran fine before. There have been game, system and driver updates, but I cannot go back to how my system was 2 months ago. I can at least play in borderless. Not sure if there is a performance difference. Some games run better in fullscreen, some games doesn't make a difference. I unfortunately can't verify myself.
